Question about Compaq NX6110 TFT XGA Notebook
Hi hope you are all well,
I am having a huge problem and dont know how to solve this problem.
My problem is msn is my homepage and i use hotmail for my emails this is the second time ive had this problem the first time i used system restore then that fixed my problem.
But now the problem is when i select internet explorer from the start menu,
then it comes up with my avatar and i select this and my password is allready entered as i chose the comp to remember my pass everytime i log in.
So i click on accept and then the computer says signing in then it attempts this five times then tells me this message,
" Their might be a problem with our service or your internet connection "
My connection is fine as i can access msn from clicking the e button on the bottom of screen next to the start menu.
Now if i can access msn this way obviusly the site isnt down as i can still access any site like this one from msn home page my problem is i cant sign in to access my emails i need to retrieve my emails as i have urgent messages that i need to read please can somebody help me and tell me what to do.
I am an expert on the site and use the site everyday but computers arent my expertise so please somebody help many thanks in advance

All the above comments ar from 2007. Im in 2008.
I was having a big Hotmail problem - it wasn't signing in and it was crashing my browser. I spent the best part of 2 days searching forums and updates trying to resolve the matter. I knew the problem wasn't at MSN's end because it was working on the PC downstairs.
Eventually i figured it out on my own.
Go to TOOLS......INTERNET OPTIONS...Click the SECURITY Tab.
Make sure the ENABLE PROTECTED MODE box is ticked.
As soon as i did that i could sign in and bask in my genius.
Hopefully no one will have to search for a clear answear anymore.
So when your sending your next Email, spare a thought for good old Mrjonnydz.
Mrjonnydz siging out......

Ok I'm going to give you the honest truth here. Your biggest problem is
that your using Micro$oft software on your PC. MSN is prone to virus
attack and often does not work right. As far as I know no antivirus has
ever been able to protect MSN over 2 years. It's just too open to
attack. You don't need to use MSN to use your e-mail. You can use
firefox from www.getfirefox.com to go to www.hotmail.com
and log in with your msn information. It will work. You do not want to
import anything from Internet Exploder as it will only cause problems.
This is a quick fix. Internet Exploder is very vulnerable to Virus
attack too and should not be used.
If you have a Desktop PC connected directly to the internet (not dial up) and a DVD burner I would recommend you go to www.mindblowingidea.com, click Ultumix, and give it a try by saving the Torrent Download Link. Then go to www.download.com and install uTorrent. You will also need to go to www.burn4free.com and install it as well. Make sure to open burn4free after installing it as well and select English. Then you may close it. Open the torrent file you downloaded in uTorrent. After you save the .iso file to your hard drive (this may take an hour or a day) right click on the .iso file and click burn4free and then Burn ISO. You will need a DVD-R or DVD+R in your DVD drive. DVD-R is recommended. After this reboot your computer and make sure to boot from the DVD drive. You may need to press additional keys during start up to get this to happen. You will see a menu that says PCLinuxOS 2007. Select LiveCD and press enter (this mode will let you try Ultumix without installing it on your hard drive). Now it will ask you some questions about your computer like what language you speak. You will most likely use Ethernet as your internet. Now you will see a screen to log in.
To try Ultumix without installing it to see what it will be like click on Owner and then type owner all lower case in the password field and press the enter key on your keyboard. Please note that it will run much slower than normal in Live Mode. When you install it it will run much faster. If you try the programs on the desktop and like them you may want to install it. We will get to that later. Open the icon marked internet and use it to get to www.hotmail.com. Get into your e-mail. If that works you should be happy. At this point I would like to point out that even though this system can't get viruses or fragmentation (unless you fill the partition over 95%) Firefox can be affected by some spyware and or trojans. If this should occur you simply click Tools > Clear All Private Data > check everything > Clear All Private Data Now.
If you want to install this on your computer you can also leave Windows on as well but you will be asked if you want to run both during setup. Click start and log out. Now click the root account and type in root all lower case. Click Install PCLinuxOS. Go threw the wizard and follow the instructions. You have the option of resizing your Windows partition and using the rest for Ultumix or erase everything and start over. Ultumix can run most windows 95, 98, and 2000 programs in WINE. You will also find that it can run some XP programs as well like Office 2003.
Have fun. If you still want to live with Micro$oft software reply to me again and I will walk you threw the painful process of protecting your computer. You will need to repeat this process I give you every 12 months or less to keep your computer running. You should also be told that in 6 months Microsoft is planning to stop extending service to XP users.
