I would not know if you have a Recovery Partition. The Factory Recovery disk can, usually, be had at the Computer's website, support. You can find a User manual here:

When I load a DVD or software program in the disc drive, nothing happens. Could there be a simple solution? Thanks, Chris

Thank you for choosing FixYa! Regarding your issue, we have a fix to that but it is not a simple one. Don't worry though I made a step-by-step resolution to that. This is a bit complicated so we have to be very careful in doing so. The main goal that we have is to Delete the Upper and Lower Filters on your registry, and that's what makes it complicated.

To start with
>Click on START
>Type REGEDIT on the search bar on START Menu
>Expand SYSTEM
>Expand CurrentControlSet
>Expand Control
>Expand Class
>Click {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
>Look for the Upper Filters / right click on it / click on Delete
>Look for the Lower Filters / right click on it / click on Delete
>Restart computer
>Try you CD / DVD ROM

I hope it helped you out. Rating my assistance by clicking YES will greatly be appreciated. Should you have any followup questions feel free to post it here and I always get back to my resolutions. Thank you for choosing FixYa! Have a good one. You can also visit my blog at for a graphical and easier step-by-step guide in resolving this issue.

Averatec 3700 laptop. Battery will not charge. New battery still does not charge

We ran a typical Toshiba PA3534U-1BRS battery of tests, including games, applications, and a couple other areas. Time constraints limited the amount of testing we could get done before the NDA lift (and it's already a few hours late), but we will be providing a follow-up article with further testing and information. That said, if there are any specific areas that you'd like to see tested, feel free to e-mail me or leave a comment.

How do I get at the hard drive on a Averatec AV3270-EH1 notebook?

It should be at the bottom of your laptop right by the battery pack. Hope this helps!/

Please rate solution - Thanks.

I have an Averatec 2370 notebook with Windows XP and I want to return it back to factory settings to give away. I press F2 for BIOS but I am unable to find a way to return it to factory settings. Any help...

What do you mean by "back to the factory settings"?
If you want the laptop back to when you first bought it then you need to format the hard disk and do a fresh Windows install plus install the device drivers for your laptop.

Adding ram to averatec 3715-EH1 laptop

Hi there.
Its fairly easy to upgrade the system memory on a laptop, if you turn the laptop upside down there should be a panel with a couple of screws, like this >>>>>>>

Take the ram out and take it with you when you go to purchase your new ram, at least then you are making sure you getting the correct ram modules.

Good luck and thanks for choosing FixYa!!

Hard drive failed - replaced 60GB with 250 GB M35X can't format

Does your BIOS recognize the new hard drive?
Are you reinstalling from a Toshiba recovery disk or an operating system disk?

Additionally, there is a setting in the BIOS to turn on or off ACPI function for the hard drive. Find this in the BIOS, change it, and try reinstalling again.

When it works, be sure to change it back after installation.

Good luck.

DVD/CD drawer does not open when button pushed - Averatec 3360

this is an issue with the tray release, built into portable disk drives. I would recommend replacement or repair by a good technician.

-this is not a software or firmware issue.
-this is an actual physical damage to the tray mechanism itself.

hope this helps you out.

To get at some parts takes some doing, but the AVERATEC 4200 AV4265-EH1 is user upgradable. The 80GB hard drive and one of the 256MB memory slots sit under a large bottom panel held in place by seven small screws. Removing two additional screws frees the hard drive. To reach the second RAM slot, you have to loosen one additional screw (labeled "D" in the manual but not on the notebook) inside the bottom compartment, pop out keyboard's four top latches, and lift it off. The RAM slot, the only exposed component beneath the keyboard, is easy to find. Another 256mb run both will surfice.
