There is a rectangle black box over the picture on my TV, so I can't see on the top part of the picture. I was wondering if I hit something on the remote. If I did how do I get my picture back.

I had a similar problem on my Toshiba Regza but trying my fix couldn't hurt. I use a satellite dish for TV (if you do the same this might work)... I turned off my receiver, took the programming card out, cleaned it with my shirt (especially the part that looks like a computer chip), put it back in the receiver, turned it back on and when everything reinitialized the black rectangle was gone.
Hi, Do you see same solid black box in all inputs or just in dvd picture? If solid box appears only with dvd picture then its generated by dvd player, check dvd player Menu and turn off any subtitle settings. And if solid black rectangular appears in all inputs of TV like cable etc then check Close Caption feature in TV and turn off CC function. Hope this will solve your TV problem. Thanks.
That is the PIP (picture in picture) setting, on the TV's remote control. locate the button marked PIP and press the button, it should clear the little box.
I'm guessing its the "CC", closed captioning. You have to turn it off, it's either in your menu or you have a button the remote saying either, Text or CC.
I'm not sure what type of TV you are using,, but most all Large Screens have a reset button someplace. You should be able to reset the TV and fix the problem. Its not the remote, making the image appear, but a command from it was misinterpeted. Sometimes turning the set off will work, but most often it needs to be reset.
EXCEPTION... if you are using a cable box. Disconnect it from power, wait 1 minute and then see if the problem exists. If the cable box is on even with the DVD you may still have this issue. Please reset the cable, and if that doesn't work, reset the TV.
Thanks! //D
