I have had the Denon s-301 for a year and a half. It works great! It plays my ipod and DVD's with no problem. I tried playing a music CD and it will not play. I tried another music CD. Nothing PLAYS. i get the zero's on the display, push play and I get the "circle with the strike through" symbol. As if pushing play is an invalid entry. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you dont want to ship your item to new jersey, you can take your unit to best buy's geek squad. Best buy used to sell this model and they will fix it. But, you do have to give them all pieces of the unit. I have not taken action with either option as of yet. But anyone having problems with their denon not playing CD's, it is not operator error and a 25 minute hold time will tell you the exact thing I am telling you now.

Exactly the same problem. A year after buying the S-301, it stops being able to play music CD. Very disappointed especially since it's so pricey. Will never buy another Denon. Ever.

Same problem after one and a half years. Also started just once in a while, but now will not read or play any CD's. DVD's work fine. Live on a small island and no way to get the unit to a service facility. Denon should stand by a relatively high end product like this.

Hello,
I have the same problem. The S-301 does not ready any CD's. This happened progressively. In the beginning, when insisting, the CD ended up being recognized by the palyer, but now it is all the time. Haven't had the time to contact the Denon support.

I am happy to hear you are enjoying your S-301 however as far as the CDs go I believe it would be a service issue as the Opt laser pickup is not reading the disc.

I have seen several postings on the web with owners of the denon s-301 complaining about CD issues (cannot play CD with TV on mute) and CDs not being read after 1.5 years (after the warranty period). Now if you are saying it is a Opt laser pickup issue that is causing the disc not to be read, it would appear that this is a defect in the product which is affecting many people.
I also have experienced before not being able to play CDs when the TV is on mute as have many others (just browse the web) and I have lived with it. But now the unit is not reading CDs at all which severly impacts my use and enjoyment. Since it is now after the 1 year warranty what recourse can I take to resolve.
