Take out the battery and disconnect the power supply. Let the laptop sit for a couple of minutes. Attach just the power supply and try to start the system. If this doesn't work, disconnect the power supply, let the system sit for a couple more minutes, insert the battery, and try again. If neither of these steps work, look for a reset switch somewhere on the machine. They usually are little pinholes on the bottom of the machine. If you find one, depress it for about ten seconds and try the above steps again.

My nook battery was dead , plugged it in to charge and now I can't get it turned on, as it has to be on to charge ? how do I fix this ?

When you connect the power adapter into the laptop, does the power LED light up? If not then - The battery adapter or the adapter's power lead or the laptop's power socket could be faulty. Check power adapter's DC plug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltage should be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that is printed on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced. If the adapter is OK then connect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/battery charging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's power socket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position this LED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a dry solder joint where it is connected to the motherboard. This can be repaired but it requires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket and repair. If you cannot DIY then I suggest you get a quote first.

You may have a DC connector problem:

Symptoms of a broken power jack
1. If you wiggle the power cord or the AC Adapter connector on the back of the laptop, the power LED and battery charge LED start to flicker.
2. Battery will not charge in the laptop.
3. Laptop runs fine off a charged battery.
4. With the AC Adapter connected the laptop appears to be dead.
No power LED or battery charge LED activity.
5. Laptop randomly powers off without any warning.

If your laptop is out of warranty, then you can fix the problem by re-soldering DC-IN jack on the system board. If it

Can not be powered up, adaptor is alright but the laptop cannot be powered. battery was removed but the power still can't come on.

Hi

Try to remove the battery, hold on power button for about 50-60seconds, then plug-in the charger and turn the laptop ON, see what happens.
If it was OK, then plug-in the battery and try to start your laptop.
If it was OK, Congratulations.
If not, so it's bad news, the battery is dead.
