Can i save all the recorded programs on my dvr to a memory stick\

Hello Anon,
The answer is both yes and no. Please, do not go to walmart and buy a regular memory stick, as they are NOT compatible with Dish equipment.
It is entirely possible to transfer recordings from your DVR to a storage device, but it will need to be Dish Network issued. Call into Dish Network and inquire about an "external hard drive" as they are available for individual purchase.
The external hard drive will be $99, but will store all you data without an issue. I sell these devices on a daily basis, they are easy to use and reliable. Don't make the wrong choice and pass up the right decisions, you spent a lot of time getting those recordings together. Do you really want to part ways with them over $99?I sure wouldn't, and that's why I have used one personally.

When using the remote and scrolling the channels, the channels change in slow motion,, The installers tell me that the amount of memory effects the speed, I only have 7 movies recorded and some days...

Hey Jeff Koons, it sounds like it might be an interference issue if it works occasionally.

Check the remote antenna on the back of the receiver; if it is standing up right try turning it to be parallel with the receiver. If it is parallel turn it to be standing up right and see if the problems fixed.

If the problem persists after that verify good batteries. If this is TV1; look for possible light or heat interferences, and if this is TV2 check components near the receiver and see if they're causing interference or even try pig tailing the antenna by hooking up a coax to the antenna and moving the antenna way from the receiver.

Let me know if the problem continues after that. You can reach me directly here or at

ViP211-HD DVR button won't work.....can't record any channels.....also the 'record' button doesn't respond either......

Hello, my name is Matthew Gonzales with DISH Network. I'm sorry about any inconvenience, but the ViP211 is not a DVR receiver. If you have an external hard drive, you can activate the feature on the 211 to allow you to record movies to the external hard drive. It is a one time $40 to activate the external hard drive feature. Also, we can always look at getting a DVR receiver installed to replace the 211. If you have any other questions, feel free to email me at

I want to hook up an external hard drive to increase the record time available for my Motorola DCH3416 cable box. I already have drives with eSata, USB, and firwire ports.

From the Motorola FAQs:

How do I transfer my programs from my Motorola DVR to an external device like a computer or hard drive? trnsp.gif Question How do I transfer my programs from my Motorola DVR to an external device like my computer or hard drive?
trnsp.gif Answer No. Currently you can't offload recorded content to any external device from a Motorola DVR, even though the data ports are there, the software doesn't support it yet. When the option becomes available through a software upgrade, it will be downloaded to DVR automatically by service providers/cable companies.

Remove all the External Storage devices, make sure that you Un-Plug them Completely including their Power. After Resting the Dish Receiver, Plug-In everything back on and try.
