The problem with Compaq D510's is common to all PC's based on a
certain intel chipset. The intel boot loader timeout is not long
enough to receive the newer (larger) driver.
Compaq have a new BIOS (v2.13) for the D510 that fixes the problem.
It is not on their website yet, you have to ring up and log a warranty
support call to get it.
In my experience it does NOT work with Windows 2000 SP3, you need the
post SP2 patch described in Microsoft's technet article Q315074.
Microsoft refused to issue this patch to me, so I got it elsewhere...
Also, Win2k SP3 introduced other problems with our RIS servers. i.e.
The server would always issue new computer names, even when the
computer was prestaged.
