If you have reset the machine as described & then re--inserted the same toner cartridge giving you the same error code then I would suspect the CRUM chip that is installed on the toner cartridge is faulty.
If your machine is under a maintenance contract which includes the provision of toner then contact your service provider & they should replace it F.O.C. If you have purchased it yourself then contact the supplier advising them of a faulty cartridge. If you replace the toner with a new one, you must reset the machine as above before you insert the new toner.
Hope this helps.
If the Toner Low/Empty message does not automatically clear when a new cartridge is installed, use the following to clear the message manually:
1.Press MENU # 1 9 3 4. The machine should display TECH. 2.Press MENU, and ENTER. The machine should display TECH Mode. 3.Press the left arrow < once. The machine will show NEW CARTRIDGE. 4.Press ENTER, the machine will show YES. 5.Press ENTER, there should not be any Toner Low/Empty message. 6.Exit TECH MODE, press MENU # 1 9 3 4. The machine will no longer display TECH.
If Toner Low/Empty message continues, there may be a problem with the toner cartridge or the machine.
This is sometimes just the toner not being even in the cartridge. It can also be a problem with the image drum or fuse wire unit.
If you take the toner cartridge out and gent shake it side to side this will redistribute the toner in the cartridge. Put it back in and do a test print to see if that fixed your problem This should only happen when the toner gets low. You can get this from moving the printer printing most things along one side and other pretty normal stuff.
If after this the image is still light on the one side then it can a problem with the image drum or fuse wire. they are just as easy to replace as the toner unit but tend to be worth more. The wire is not that bad but still can be a few $$ and is rarely the problem. If it looks like the problem is in the image drum then I'd check out replacement cost of a laser printer. There are some pretty capable printers selling for pretty cheap these days. An image drum is worth about $125 and up and the fuse kit about $120
I have a feeling that it is a re-manufactured or compatible cartridge?? There
is a fuse that needs to be replaced on this unit. it blows when the
cartridge is installed to reset the machine. If the fuse has not been
replaced or is defective the machine will not recognize the new unit.
The samsung sf 5100 toner cartridge has a .05 Amps fuse in it. This gets blowed when you switch on the machine. This is used to reset the page counter and also to inform the machine that you have inserted a new toner. Now this recycled cartriges will not have this fuse and this is the reason why your machine shows TONER EMTY message! If you dont get the same rating fuse, put any fuse of the same size, insert the toner, close the door and just switch on the power and switch off immediately. Then take out the Toner cartridge and remove the fuse. Now your cartridge is ready for use.
