Re: wont turn on

All PSU's have a RED switch on the back make sure it is set to 115V. Connecting the case back to the mobo is described in the manual. If you do not have the manual you can connect with Gatway through online chat at:

usually if the wires have a name on the end of them check your motherboard very carefully probably with a torch or lamp you will see the same name as on the end of those wires on pins connectors on the motherboard if it says audio ac'97 on the end of the wire you will find the ac'97 pins on the motherboard then connect if it doesnt work take out and turn the connection around the other way to see thats all i can offer hope it helps

Bought new power supply, no difference power button will not even go on or light up ; however small green light on mother board lights up. als accidentaly disconnected the switches wiring to the mother...

The green light just show that the motherboard is getting power.
The power button of the front of the case is connected to the mother board, not to the power supply, usually in the extreme lower left corner along with the with the HDD and Reset Button cords; Power button wire are labeled and usually red/black.
If all wired correctly, possible bad or stuck power button or reset button.
Hope this helps.

My a730n computer will not turn on. The green light flashes in the back. Local frys tested power supply and said it was working. Fans dont come on...nothing?

it could be a mother board problem or Power supply issue. Even if the power supply works it wont supply required voltage to some components.Its better you get a new power supply and test it.Still its not working it could be a mother board issue.There will be a chance for power button issue also.

My computer wont turn on

take out the psu completely from the cpu/tower, plug in the power cord,if there is a switch on the psu turn it on, next locate the main power connector (24pin) and find green wire,take a piece of wire and insert it into the green wire connector,next touch the other end of the wire to the psu outer case or a black wire on the main connector,if all is well the psu will turn on,if you have a dc voltage tester check the voltages on the red and black wires on molex connector...5vdc,yellow and black...12vdc.if ok look at the main board and inspect the capacitors to see if they are swollen, if ok
replace psu and disconnect hdd,cd/dvd,floppy ect from main board only leave memory,processor and video, power on if ok shut off and reconnect hdd, power on, if ok shutoff and connect floppy, if ok power off and connect cd/dvd drive.during this testing you will know what is bad.let me know how it turns;

No start up , button lites up - cd-rom wont open , noticed no fans on for 3d card or big one on mother board

If the cpu/heatsink fan isn't turning then most pc's will shut down to avoid further damage to cpu & board. I would first replace the fan if it's the one over your cpu. Try replacing power supply. If your board has the 4 pin plug, you must have that plugged in. But keep in mind if that fan isn't running a new power supply isn't going to make it start working. You have to have that fan working. Then go from there. If once it is working & other devices like video and/or roms aren't, check your memory. The best way to troubleshoot devices are to plug one at a time in and power up until the problem starts. Hopefully you won't have to go to that step.

I have a Northdate computer and every time I push the front button to turn it on it would shut right back down. I opened the side panel and took out the power supply box and replaced it. Still doing it...

ok find the pin on the mother board of your pc you will see a 9 pin like this ( ::::. ) or in reverse order just put the pw sw. in pw mark you can see that just read it
