Hi there, I am looking at a used LG bottom freezer style unit and have been told that there is an occasional “knocking” or “clunking” noise believed to be coming from the compressor and that the compressor cannot be replaced. They say that the unit works just fine and that it is simply a “noise”. Is this something that can be repaired? If so do you have any idea of the approximate repair cost for something like this? Should I run away from this unit, or consider it for the right price? Thanks so much.
Good news is the compressor can be replaced, bad news is its expensive. the knocking noise is the compressor and will likely get louder over time. Or may be like that for 5 years.
This could simply be the freon line hitting the compressor or the compressor could be about to go out. I would pass on this unit, if I were you. I would also make sure that you buy from someone that you can count on to provide at least a 60 day warranty and that you can trust to stand behind that warranty (like a local company) rather than buy from an individual. Especially as expensive as a fridge full of food costs. Hope this answers your questions and gives you some peace of mind. :>). Ella

two freezer drawer model. Bottom drawer now getting difficult to open due to ice accumulation below drawer into a sheet, thicker at the back. Looks like seal is good. Removed ice once, but reaccumulated in about 2 months. What could be wrong, and how to fix it?

I have an LG fridge/freezer, Model # LFC25760ST. I know that the alarm will beep if the doors to the fridge or the freezer drawer is left open- and I appreciate that. But after coming home, I heard it doing the 3 beep thing, and found the doors and drawer to be shut tight. I closed and reclosed several times, and the alarm keeps going off every 30 secs. or so. What's up? Thanks.
