Question about Canon PowerShot SD550 / IXUS 750 Digital Camera
I plug the camera into the USB cord and then into the port I get the message that the device driver software was not installed. It doesn't seem like my computer recognizes the camera, as it doesn't show up as a device with removable storage. As a result I am unable to upload any pictures onto the computer...
I've owned this Powershot SD550 for over a year now and I have had no problems until now. I reinstalled the software package and still got the same error. If anybody has a solution to this I would be very, very grateful.
I struggled for a while with same problem. Tried un-successfully to re-install drivers myself. Vista was saying that the driver was missing, with the yellow exclamation mark in Device Manager in Control Panel.
Solution turned out to be easy, just right clicked the camera in Device Manager and UN-INSTALLED it.
When I next connected camera, Vista treated it as new device and automatically installed drivers, now working ok.

Invest in a $10 USB memory card reader and simply take your card out and plug it in. The PC will read it as a drive and it's a simple drag and drop to get your pictures onto the PC for editing and printing. Much better than trying to trouble shoot driver issues.
