Problem downloading a video file from Canon Powershot S3 IS

I use my Powershot camera to record a video of me teaching in a school that I am using for a University project. My memory card is a high speed 4G card that I have been using for almost a year now. I have successfully recorded and downloaded dozens of video files from this camera with this memory card. I have never recored videos this long before. Twice while I was recording the video space maxed its self out and I had to start the camera recording again as a separate file. My problem now is that when I go to download the file it won't let me down load the fist two video clips. It gives me an error message that says "not enough memory". The camera's memory card is not full yet, my computer hard drive has 60 GB of free space and 2 GB RAM so I don't understand what it means, or why it won't download. If you could let me know ASAP I would greatly appreciate it.

Have you tried inserting your card into a USB memory card reader? simply take your card out and plug it in. The PC will read it as a drive and it's a simple drag and drop .

.thm video files

Here is some info from :
Video thumbnails are often created on digital video cameras and digital cameras that record video; THM files may or may not be transferred to the computer depending on what software is used to import the video; each THM file shares the same filename as the video clip it represents, i.e. "clip001.avi" and clip001.thm."

How do you use the camera recorder on Canon powershot s31s camera? I would like to know how to record, save and then download short "movies" on the camera.

Just to the right of the viewfinder is a silver button with a red dot in the centre. This will start / stop recording. Set the camera dial to Auto, press the red dot button, and your recording will start. When ready, connect the camera to your computer with a USB cable and the movies will download at the end of the still pictures.
You might find recording suddenly stops after a while - this is because of a size limit for movie files. You can get over this by changing the resolution that the camera records at. It's quite complicated so I suggest checking the user manual or downloading it from the Canon webiste to choose what quality if resolution to use.

How do I set a Canon PowerShot S3 IS so the date appears on the photo when I download it and/or print it?

The date and time (and a lot more) are stored with every picture in its EXIF metadata. Any photo viewing/editing program should be able to display this data. To print this data, please consult the documentation for whatever program you're using to print your pictures. Depending on the program and printer you may print the date on the image, in the margins, or on the back.
