Question about Sony HOME THEATER SYSTEM System

Sony DAV HDZ235 with Ipod nano

I would like to hook up my Ipod nano to the Sony speaker system. Can I just use the Ipod cables that connect the Ipod to my computer to connect to the speaker system (or DVD player) instead of the computer? Or do I need to buy a docking station that connects to the speaker system?

CAN I HOOK THIS UP TO HD TV FEED WITH A PVR

    henknm

If your PVR has an Optical Output then you will be able to hook that to your SONY DAV-S300. If it does not you will just be able to use the standard analog stereo connections. I included a picture of the Optical port on your SONY DAV-S300.

Can I extend existing speaker cables

As long as the cables are properly connected you shouldn't lose quality in the sound. If its the front speaker cables you want to extend then contact sony and ask them for the rear cables which you can then substitue for the front ones which are considerably shorter.

The simplest solution would be connect the headphone jack on the iPod to the stereo audio inputs (RCA) to your home theater. So you need a cable that is "stereo phono mini jack" on one end (into iPod headphone jack), and then Y-splits into two RCA connectors on the other end (into L and R audio in on the receiver).

The expensive Apple-endorsed Monster-branded version can be found at http://store.apple.com/us/product/TN983LL/A#overview for $30, but you can get the same thing at Radio Shack for $7.

Set the iPod volume to less than ~80% and then control the volume using your receiver. You have to use the iPod menu to select music.

use component outputs of that unit to play on tv.Or use component or video output of sony unit and connect to cable box if available and use the source switching on cable box to change sources that way you wont have to unplu HDMI cable..By the way HDMI has a new challenger in the near future called ' DISPLAY PORT' ..
