It's mostly likely that somewhere in the circuit for the heat that it has opened somewhere so you don't have a complete closed circuit anymore. If it's old and not terribly expensive I'd just replace it. If it's not that old I would see what kind of factory warranty or store warranty night still apply to it, because I can only imagine that it would be very difficult if not impossible to get replacement parts for it, or the price of said parts would cost more than the price of a new unit.
