Re: Brush belt

I noticed the same thing myself. I had set the handle in the upright position, and laid the cleaner on the table to remove the rolloer brush. When I re-installed it I noticed the belt was really loose.

I checked several things before I finally lowered the handle to the operating position. This tightened the belt up, which makes sense when you stop and think about it. If you sit the handle upright to use an attachment you don't want the roller brush working away at your carpet when you don't need it.

Placing the handle upright disengages the roller brush by loosening the drive belt.

How do i replace the belt on my hover

lower handle to floor and flip entire unit over. In the bottom near the brush, there are 2 levers that hold the cover on. flip both levers and pull up on cover. It will come out of the 2 wire holders that hold down the 2 front tabs. With the cover removed you can easily access the brush. Firmly grasp 1 side of the brush and pull straight up. This may take a lot of force as the brush may have been seated for a long time. Pull both sides out and clean the area underneath the brush. Also make sure nothing is wrapped around the brush or motor.
After cleaning you're ready to install new belt. Place new belt around brush. After pushing brush through the new belt, with belt loosely around brush slide brush back into housing 1 side at a time. The brush fits in very tightly. The ends have 2 pieces of metal that act as springs, these are installed facing the top. Make sure the brush is pushed down tightly toward the bottom or the cover will not fit right. Once brush is in stretch belt around motor tip. Replace cover by placing the 2 tips into the wire clips and close. Flip the latches closed and turn machine over. Lift handle and you're good to go. Brush is not turning and water is not coming out when lever is squeezed

You may have a broken brush belt they break far too easily. Turn it over and look around the sides of the brush for a broken rubber belt.

Will it spin if you turn it?
I'd guess that the belt is either loose, or it's worn out and is slipping instead of turning the brush.
Solution: buy a new belt and replace it.

The V belt is too loose. The brush switch

Did you purchase the exact replacement belt for the vacuum, or did you buy one to match the one you have?

It sounds like you have the wrong belt, but, it could be the roller brush is not properly installed or the roller has worn down significantly.

Twirly thing under the vacuum has stopped spinning

there is a belt that drives the beater brush. flip the unit over, you can remove the bottom cover by removing a couple of screws. to one side of the brush you will see a channel where the belt should be. go to you local walmart, sears or hardware store and in the vaccume section they will have belts, on each bag of belts will be a list of vaccumes that belt fits simply find yours. with the new belt simply lift the beater brush out at the belt channel side and install the belt around motor shaft and brush. then place brush back in place , be suer brush guides are in properly. this should do ya.

Belt tension adjustment

If you are looking at the belt while the vacuum is in the upright and locked position, the belt will be loose. The idler removes tension so the brush doesn't spin while you walk away and put heat marks in the carpet. Hit the lever that allows you to move the handle low, like you are vacuuming under the bed, and the belt gets tight.

Installing a belt

1. Unplug the vacuum
2. Take the bottom cover over the brush off by removing the 3 screws
3. Switch the brush roll control lever to bare floor
4. Take the roller brush out
5. Put the belt around the small pulley from the motor
6. As you are putting the roller brush back in put the belt around the space on the roller brush - center the belt on that space - THE BELT WILL NOT BE TIGHT BUT THAT'S NORMAL
7. Reinstall the bottom cover with the 3 screws
