Question about Brother GX-6750 Typewriter

1 Answer

Removing Symbols and return to just simple typing.

I must have hit some buttons on the typewriter while piling a few things on top of it while it was on. I haven't used a typewriter since high school. In my office I have a Brother GX-6750. I went to type the # sign and got a symbol instead. It was a lower case c with a hook on it. Please help me!!

I've hit a wrong key and now it won't print what I am typing it just moves along the line

Just hit the mode key until TYPE, on the display, is highlighted. There are 3 modes, TYPE (where the machine functions like a normal typewriter), L/L (Where what you are typing shows up in the display and then prints when you hit the "RETURN" button. You can make corrections, in this mode, before you print the line, which saves using your correction tape.) and STORE (which is used to store memory information, such as format and phrases.)

Carriage will not return on 2 of our IBM Wheelwriter 6, can this be fixed?

First spray some WD40 on the silxer shaft that the carrier slides on they get really gummy, if this works run it back and forth a few times then clean the shaft off with a rag.

After typing first line, hit the return key. The carriage would not return to the far left only moved 12 or so spaces to the left.

The carrier slides on a silver shaft that is about 1/2" thick spray some WD40 on the shaft, if that doesn't do it you have to get some on the carrier motor bearings located under the case in the R. rear corner.

When typing numbers a strange symbol appears in it's place, not a code symbol or a cap symbol.

Hmm, I have a sd 670, and I have a button called KD II, and it makes symbols appear. If you have that key, hit code then hit it. That should bring you back you back to normal.

Types only one letter

Press margin release before you hit return then continue typing. You may have set the right margin.

The letters are typing another letter for the letter you push. All symbols are doing the same.

Turn it on, allow it to home, mark the printwheel with some white out.
Turn it off and on a few times if the mark dosen't always return to the same place the homing pawl is broken, you need a tech.
