My 12 year old has one also, and his joystick does not work smoothly, it feels like it is getting caught on something.

There is a way to fix the problem of the games not loading and the joystick not working, the way that you fix the games not loading is that you go over the setting part of his psp and then go down to the part that says system settings select it and go down to where it says restore default settings. It will ask you do you want to restore default settings, select yes. wait a mintue put the system back on games put the game in and wait and it should work. For the joystick problem they sell the replacement joysticks at any electronic store.

The first PSP is having UMD Laser Trouble, I believe the laser is possibly damaged.
The second one needs an adjustment and cleaning to the Joystick circuit. This is not as serious.
The PSP is a very complicated little Device to be monkeying with. I suggest you get your receipts and contact Sony through the www.playstation.com website. The phone number for sony is 1-800-345-7669. You can try calling but with all the PS3 systems failing it is hard to get through.
If your cannot come up with the receipt fro purchasing the PSP, I suggest you click on "Repair Directory" at the bottom of this Screen. Then click on "Video Game Consoles". Pick a good Repair shop that specializes in Playstation Products. I can give you a good deal if you find my listing. I am Cerfer39. Good luck.

Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

Your PSP is Bricked. You need to send it to Sony to get your problem resolved. The contact information is listed below.
I know this is terrible news for you. When you were downloading the Flash0, something disturbed the download and corrupted the PSP. This is what Bricked you PSP. Brick refers to your psp and it is dead until Sony fixes it, no more worth than a brick.
