Question about Philips GoGear SA178 MP3 Player
Hey i recently bought a philips 1 gb mp3 player bt its nt getton detected by ma pc... askin for sum STMP3500 driver.. what shall i do
The rechargable battery is dead, and unless you can replace it, you have a useless paperweight. Generally, when the battery is fully discharged it comes up with the missing STM3500 message. When it recharges in the usb port, the message will go away after uninstalling the MP3 player. When it won't recharge, it is gone without a new battery.

Your mp3 Player seem to have lost its Firmware.
Windows Xp finds it as an STMP3500 and wants a driver to make it work.
1. Update the firmware or zee if you can get the origenal firmware.
2. If it is a new one return the player to the store.
i tride option 1 my self but i did not get the player back to work ,and turns out to be lost.
and option 2 was not an option the player was 2 years old.
I wish you luck on your problem.

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

The driver is installed when you install the Firmware Manager software on the product CD.
The player will show as STMP3500 when it is in recovery mode (usually caused by corrupt firmware)
Install the Frimware manager.
Connect the player.
If asked for a driver let Windows search automatically.
If you get a Signed Driver message just click ok to continue.
Run Firmware Manager and follow the on-screen prompts, and all should be well.
