That Belkin IS a Wireless Access Point. Wireless routers are, by definition, an Access Point.. you will have to have access to the configuration page on the Belkin, and enable Wireless...

If you received this ADSL router from your ISP, then the best bet is to call them and ask for the proper way to access this utility... If you purchased this router, then perhaps I can find the proper way to configure it for you.. let me know.

Hard wire your computer to a LAN port on the router, and see if your computer gets an IP Address... to see the infomation that the DHCP server (Belkin) is giving you, do this:

Start > Run > cmd (ok)

    From the Command Shell type:

    ipconfig /all > ip.txt

    notepad ip.txt

This should open a window with all your IP information in it. you will find a line called Default Gateway.. this is the address (probably 192.168.x.x) that you put in your Browser Window Address Line to access the configuration page of the router..

Once in the config page, there should be a page that outlines wireless settings. You may need to enable the WiFi features of the device. This includes providing a Name (known as a SSID) and the type of encryption (WEP, WAP, etc.).

Do you have a manual for this router? That would probably help immensely!

F5D7231-4 stopped connecting to Internet via downstream router

Why did you change it from dynamic to static? My suggestion would be to put it back to dynamic and let it grab a good ip address from the gateway. The other option is to contact whoever managed the network at your apartment and see what they will charge you for a static IP address.

The setup page to configure Belkin routers is at http://192.168.2.1

If you have changed it, reset the modem to factory defaults by using a paper clip in the small reset hole.

hello!
-- what is the exact model number of your access point and router?
-- what is the ip address of your access point and router?
-- what is the operating system of your computer?
-- Is your computer directly connected to the router?
-- Do you have a wireless computer? what is the model number of the wireless adapter

if you want to configure your access point with your router you may try the ff:
Step 1: Connect the Ethernet port of the access point to one of the Ethernet ports of the router
Step 2: Make sure the power adapter is plugged to an available power outlet
Step 3: Check if the corresponding LEDs on the access point are lit
Step 4: After connecting the devices together, configure the access point’s wireless settings
Step 5: Open the access point’s web-based setup page
Step 6: When the access point’s web-based setup page opens, change the SSID, Channel, and Wireless Security.

Unable to get connected to Belkin f5d6130 AP

Hi,

You need to be connected using  wired Ethernet (PC's LAN card to Router's Ethernet Port (at the back)).  This is the preferable INITIAL way to configure the router before going wireless. Also it would be to your advantage to initially set your PC (that will be used for configuring the router)  to "Specify an IP address" (static settings) and not "Obtain an IP address automatically."

For a PC connected via UTP networking cable attached to a Belkin F5D6130 AP, the networking settings could be:
IP Address 192.168.2.2
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway 19*2.168.2.1
DNS Server 192.168.2.1
Reboot

Post back results. Good luck and kind regards.
