So now 2 months later it has started to do it again. I can tuen it off for awhile and then back on and it is fine. It almost looks like and out of convergence bright white xray flash on the screen. Don't know how else to describe it. One more note. We replaced bulb but not complete board assy. Help!

I changed my bulb and my TV does the same. It is good for 15 minutes then starts to have white flashes and then turns to green/red picture. What is the problem and solution?

I have the same problem.  Picture looks like sepia toned images flickering in and out.

Did you ever get this fixed? I have an RD50 that is new (bought from a closeout store) and sounds like it's doing the same thing. Please reply

Hello! Just a little additional info if you will on what might to expect. This is according to the repairman where my tv is still in the shop after almost 2 wks because of the need for parts: other than the lamp the only place to get other parts (ballast and color wheel) is from Optoma and if yu need the color wheel you will have to purchase the entire assembly ($999.99) because they do not sell it separately. If anyone knows differently please let me know for I am between a rock (not really) and a hard place.

I replaced the bulb in this tv a year and half ago, and the tv just went out and will not come on. Could it need another bulb/lamp?

Yes, bulb life varies from bulb to bulb and how many times it is turned on and off. Do you get any flashing codes? In your manual you should find something on a bulb life indicator, some flash on the front of the set others are in the menu, look and see what it says there. If your getting any flashing codes on your indicator light let me know what they are as well

Sony KDF50E2000 lcd tv has burned out it's second bulb. Replacement bulb was OSRAM brand. It only lasted 10 months, now it won't come on. Should I be looking at the ballast or did I just get a poor...

Hi,Osram lamps average around 3000-4000 hrs.Normally 1 -1 1/2 yr.I do think the lamp went out.The ballast is a possibility, when it's going bad it will make clicking noises or attempts to light the bulb.I recommend to get the Original Philips lamp for they average 6000-8000 hrs 3-4 yrs.

My Optoma HDTV Model RD50 needs replacement of its internal lamp. Which model lamp is the correct one and how much does the lamp cost? Regards - Lee

Call Optoma technical support listed on the optomatv website. They will ask for the set serial number. Based on the serial number, they will tell you which replacement lamp is the correct model for your TV. (I found this out after ordering the wrong replacement lamp based simply on the model number of my TV and finding that it did not fit.)

Can you tell me why the optoma HD72I lamp will turn off after just a few minutes of running, the lamp is still fine

I have the same problem. I got a new bulb and it worked for about 1000 hours, then the new bulb started having the same problem. So, I was about to buy another bulb, and I figured why not try the original bulb. IT WORKED! For a couple weeks... Then it started doing it again. Obviously there was nothing wrong with the original bulb, and there is nothing wrong with the new bulb, but I have 2 bulbs that do it now. So, is there any way to just tell the projector run the bulb till it actually dies and not turn it off because it thinks it is about to die.

Ghost images!

I had the same problem, reset the lamp hours by pressing 'menu, 619 , menu" and browsing until I found the setting, but then I also saw an option to test the lamp.  The TV shut off when I tried this and 2 red lights indicating a new lamp is needed came on instead.  It's probably the ballast and not the lamp, but I don't know that I want to put any more money into this set.  I have only had it 2 years.

Lamp light on picture off

You might try unplugging the set for maybe 20 mins. to see if that might help in resetting the internals. Good luck!

Blub out again

Hi there

Keep in mind that this is only a estimate - not true hours at all.

Does your Projector go in for a service every 3 months ?

If I were you I would take back the Projector to the dealer you purchased it from and ask them to test your Ballast ( lamp's powersupply)

Did they tell you to run in your new lamp for 12 hours straight ?

Optoma hd72 bulb turning off

This is NOT a bulb problem unless your "lamp" LED is lit, which you say it is not. Many people have reported this problem with the Optoma 72. You can send it in for warranty service (it has a 2-year warranty) to get the lamp controller chip replaced, but the problem may recur. Optoma does not appear to have a permanent solution to this problem. My projector has broken exactly like yours TWICE in a year. I haven't even needed to replace the original bulb yet. :(
