Princeton 19" monitor flashing on and off when I turn it on.

It stops after a couple minutes, but it seems like it's taking longer for it to stop.

Describe your (VL1916) 19" LCD

Did you try this monitor with another PC and already verify that the VGA cable is OK.
Common problem with Princeton monitors are due to bad DC filter capacitors in the power supply board, see example here:

VL1919 blue light flashes continuously, monitor does not turn on. . . even after DAYS of flashing. : (

That is the problem with the standby section of the power supply. A continuous flashing indicate a shorted component usually a small diode.

What is an average life for a Princeton Monitor. My seem to last for a little over two years. This is with daily use for eight to ten hours.

Two years is still new. Your monitor should last several years at least. I say should last, but the manufacturer will give you a 1 year warranty. Basically i year is nothing at all. I've had monitors from a variety of manufacturers and all have lasted at least 5 years and most lasting much longer. The monitors I'm referring to were used in a business and were on a minimum of 10 hours per day. I had some Princeton monitors that lasted equally long. You can complain to the manufacturer, but it may not get you any satisfaction.

Monitor stuck in power saving mode

If the monitor goes into power saving mode as soon as you turn your computer on then maybe your graphics card is only half-way in and not secured properly. I would first recommend plugging in a different monitor if you have one, if it doesn't get any signal either then read on. I had this issue, basically a couple screws need to be put back in because they have fallen out. The graphics card was only partially plugged in and the computer would run but not "communicate" with the monitor. If you are unsure how to do this then I recommend taking a trip to your nearest IT shop, the job takes only about 1 minute so you should have your computer back quickly. Hope this helps,

David

Monitor goes to sleep after 30 minutes vl1919

Welcome to FixYa! The default power saving feature is turning the monitor off. To change the settings go to the Desktop>Right click on it>Properties>Settings and you will see power saving settings where you can choose "Never turn off" or a longer time interval. These settings can also be found in your Control Panel for all of the Power Saving features for the computer, monitor and hard drive. Steve

PRINCETON LCD 19 IN MONITOR. WHEN TURNED ON SCREEN FLASHES OFF AND ON AND MAKES A NOISE EACH TIME IT FLASHES OFF AND ON. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES STAYS ON AND WORKS FINE.

Sounds like there is a capacitor in the power supply section that is failing to charge/discharge correctly. Is it under MFG warranty? If so I would send it in for repair.

Using with a Mac

Looks like a power save program has hibernated your monitor. Look in Control panel settings to see if the power settings hibernate your monitor. Reset to never and this may fix your problem.

Drivers usually do not fail after 20 mins it is usually a software option set incorrectly.

Also, check the Bios program for correct settings or options.

I haven't had a Macintoch in a while but, this may give you some where to look for the solution

Good Luck
