I recently purchased two 2GB Crucial RAM, but when i put it on the laptop and try to turn it on, the computers starts making 3 beeps then the blue lights stay on but the laptop wont start... what can it be? (works fine with original 512 ram)

Before buying I checked the specs on the hp website, as per specifications I bought them. (max 4GB, DDR2, 6400)
They are non-ecc / I tested them on a Dell Laptop and they worked so I know they're not DOA.

You have purchased the wrong type of memory or one of the memory sticks are bad.
Try inserting just one at a time.
If the same problem, re-install the orig. memory and replace the purchased memory.

Check your board manufacture spec. Some boards only accept up to say 1 Gig ram or (other) the beeps are reporting that it does not like the amount of ram or type of ram, ensure you have purchased the correct clock speed etc according to your board as well. Hope this helps

Some motherboards are only upgradable to their allotted amount that board may only handle up to 2 gigs of RAM which is a shame. But this is the way it is. That is why I always check the board memory capacity before I buy computer boards or RAM for them. The beeps indicate error on the slots for the RAM that is why you can start up when you remove ram one at a time and replace. So use the allotted amount of RAM for that board specification or get another mother board that can handle more than 2 gigs of RAM. Sorry for the loss. Thanks for using FixYa! John

Too much memory for Giga-Byte K8M800-8237

The issue of this is not too much capacity on your memory., i tell you the problem is incompatible both of them. Check again your memory and what brand are there.
Because something motherboard settings are being notify if reliable to you to use different kind of RAM you have. Read the motherboard manual to find out some settings to enable both of them are not the same brand or model.

Boot with over 2GB of ram

Make sure you got the right speed -

Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-4200 or DDR2 PC2-5300.

If you got faster than 5300 they may not clock down properly.

If the memory is the correct specs then it may simply not be compatible and you will have to try different RAM.

I have the best luck on laptops with Crucial ram - they have certified ram for many systems. here is a link for yours:
