Amana SXD23V refrigerator leaks water underneath the side where the refrigerator door is evey time I try to get water out of the dispensor. I found a plastic tube on the floor about an inch long then...

I believe your water line or the union nut just behind the kickplate may have come loose. Lets see if we can find a repair kit and get you going again. Depending on where the line is broken or leaking will depend on just how much you will need to do so if leaking at the union nut please disregard removal of door.

To avoid risk of electrical shock, severe personal injury or death; disconnect power to unit before servicing, unless

testing requires power. Discharge capacitor through a 10,000 ohm resistor before handling. Wires removed during
disassembly must be placed on the correct terminals to ensure proper grounding and polarization.

sea_breeze_2.png Here are the instructions from the manual below.

1. Open door and remove all storage buckets.

2. Remove toe grille.

NOTE: Shut off water supply before performing Step 3.

Have a bucket ready to catch spillage from tube.

3. Loosen water-tube clamp screw. Loosen plastic

water-tube union nut. Pull water tube away from

union nut and through tube clamp.

4. Remove screw that mounts door closure to top

surface of bottom hinge.

5. Close door.

6. Remove screw holding top hinge cover in place.
Remove top-hinge cover.

7. Unplug wiring harness connectors. Remove ground
screw and ground wire from top hinge.

8. Remove top hinge and hinge bushing. Pull hinge and

bushing off wiring harness.

NOTE: Hinge shim is glued to top of cabinet and must

be left in place.

9. Lift door about 3 inches to bring lower hinge bushing

up, off hinge pin.

10. Set bottom edge of door on protective pad. Remove

hinge pin (with door-closure tab) from bottom hinge

11. Reverse procedure to rehang door.

For plastic tubing click HERE
and for a simple snap on coupling I want you to call to insure you get the correct size and snap on union.

When i close the left door the right door pops open 1.5 inches this problem has just started i have had the unit for 4.5 years

I had the exact same problem with my Kitchen Aid French door refrigerator...... I had my appliance repair man come twice and we finally found the problem........... the LOWER DOOR HINGE was broken on the inside. you can only tell when you go to remove the hinge from the inside of the door. he replaced it and it works beautifully. I read how many people have had this problem and have replaced the gasket on the door but it didn't solve the problem. that's because it's not the gasket it's the lower hinge in the actual door. good luck

    Fridge door not closing properly

This section of this refrigerator door repair guide will walk you though repairing a refrigerator door on a side-by-side refrigerator. On most side-by-side refrigerators there is a cam that lifts the door up when you open the door so that the door has a tendency to fall down and back into place while it is closing. If the refrigerator has a cam and it is working properly, the refrigerator door will rise up when you open it and lower when you close it. If this cam is broken the door will not close properly. A lot of refrigerators have two cams, one screwed on the door and one on the hinge. You may have to replace the entire hinge to replace the lower cam but the cam on the door can always be replaced. You will have to order the cam by model number and can do so on this website

On side-by-side refrigerators without cams there will be a spacer on the door hinge. If this spacer is missing replace it. Note that any plastic spacer will work as long as it will go on the hinge pin and is not too thick. Never use a metal spacer because this will cause wear on the door and it will eventually squeal when closing.

As on top-freezers the door gasket may be ripped and if so refer to the bottom section that talks about door gasket replacement.

Sometimes the door can get warped out of shape. If the door is closing at the top and not at the bottom or vice versa the door may be warped out of shape. You can fix this by twisting the door back into shape. Take you foot and place it at the bottom and pull the door out at the top or place your foot inside the door at the bottom and push at the top with your hand depending on which way you need to twist the door. Note don’t over do it twist it a little and if it isn’t enough twist it a little more. If it gets worse you may need to twist the other way.

    hope this helpout ......

I have a Dometic rm2652 refrigerator the door hinge broke

the hinge is not plastic, only the insert sleeve that goes into the hole atop the door is plastic. If the actual hinge (metal arm) is broke, then you need to order a new part (not difficult if frig is 20 years or less). If you cannot find the part, go to a metal shop and show them the broken part, they usually can repair it or remake a new piece.
If the hole in the door went bad (that is: if the hole tore open and cannot hold the hinge pin) you need to have a metal repair brace added to the door. This will involve the metal shop or a good mechanic that can come to you and do the neccessary repair at the house; otherwise you need to bring the door to the metal shop. macgivor

hi Step 1: If the door won't shut tightly, tip the refrigerator slightly backward by propping up the front of the unit or unscrewing the front leveling legs two complete turns. Experiment with this adjustment until the door stays closed, but don't tip the unit very far out of front-to-back level.

Step 2: If leveling doesn't work, tighten the hinge screws. You may have to open the door (especially the freezer door) to turn these screws. On some units, you may have to remove a hinge cap or trim to reach the screws; pry off the cap or trim with a screwdriver. Sagging and looseness can be corrected by shimming the door hinges. Loosen the hinge and place a hinge-shaped cardboard shim between the hinge and the door. Then tighten the hinge again. Sagging may also be caused by a wrongly placed shim. In this case, you can correct the problem by removing the shim. Experiment with the shims; you may be able to eliminate the sagging.

Step 3: If the door is warped, tighten the screws that hold the inner door shell to the outer door shell. You may have to change or adjust the door gasket after making this adjustment.

Step 4: Check the catch. Newer units have a magnetic catch on the door. If the door doesn't latch properly, remove the magnetic strike from the inner door shell and shim it slightly with a piece of thin cardboard. You may have to adjust the gasket to conform with the new shim.
