Uninstall the scanner from the pc/ laptop and use the software(s) provided with the purchase of the scanner and reinstall the scanner. If this does NOT work, then please take your your scanner back to whom you purchased it off. I hope this helps.
Your machine is compatible with Windows Vista. Uninstall whatever drivers you currently have installed, then download and install the drivers from this link. Be sure and also install the MP Navigator (listed under Software), which provides the scanner interface program.
To use this device ave it's own freeware software provided to install such devices or hardware to run into your Computer. Checking your is in good condition or it's factory defect. USB Device such scanner automatically detected when connected to Computer. Good luck!
Of course scanner have it's own freeware software provided with driver & software for your scanner with all operating system required. Run the Disc to install a program with the drivers also to let you scan documents, pictures, & etc... All the setting are there to know how to scan.... First Preview it then scan and it will send to your driver (destination folder) where it saves the files. Good luck!
Actually, Omnipage should be included on the CD that came with the unit. If (and I mean if) scangear installs correctly AND locates your 4370dn on the network, it will install itself as a shim TWAIN driver. After the installation of Omnipage, you will need to do a scanner setup and identify the scangear shim as the scanner you intend to work with. After that, Omnipage should work just fine using your 4370dn on the network.
Word of warning: I've had a lot of trouble with scangear if it doesn't install correctly or locate your device on the network. For whatever reason, sometimes it just doesn't want to cooperate sometimes and seemingly nothing you do will convice it that your device is alive and well on the network (including continous ping to the device and/or opening the web interface while installing). This is particularly true for Win64.
Canon only has this scanner driver in OS9 and it will run in classic mode if you are using OSX. This $40 software will work with your scanner in OSX, but for $40 you can purchase an OSX native scanner too. http://www.hamrick.com/index.html
