Re: Playback button won't work

It sounds like the switch is not contacting the botton that activates the playback. If you want to repair it yourself there is a guy in South Carolina who has lots of parts for all the Sony Cameras. I bought my LCD from him for $39.00 plus shipping and it works perfect. I put it in myself and saved a ton. If you buy the part from him he sends you pictures of him taking the camera apart so that you can repeat the process when you install it. I think his email is

When I had a Sony Cybershot, during playback mode the volume was controlled with either the Up, Down or Left, Right buttons (the circle with the little pictures on it; it's been like 3 yrs since I had my Sony) & I could adjust while it was playing. Hope this helps.

Sony Cybershot DSC-W200 digital camera. Suddenly and for no apparent reason it can no longer be switched on. Blank screen, no lens movement, no sound, totally dead. I substituted a spare, fully charged...

Try this:
Remove the batteries at the same time that you remove the camera's memory card. This will allow the camera to reset. The camera does not require the memory card to operate, so leave the memory card out as you reinsert the batteries. If the camera turns on with the memory card out, but not with it in, you may have a corrupt memory card. Contact the memory card's manufacturer for a replacement.
Turn on the camera in playback mode. This mode allows you to turn on the camera without extending the lens. If your camera is already set to playback mode, it may appear the camera is not turning on when you press the "on" button, because the lens will not extend.Contact Sony if your camera still won't turn,if you bought your camera new from a licensed retailer, it should come with a one-year manufacturer's warranty. Sony cybershot dsc-s40 lcd screen is all white

okay the lcd being white means its replacment of lcd time and not the camersa itself. But to rule that out try taking a pic if you cannot you might got a shutter issue as well.

Thanks hope the information helped

Displays file error message when trying to playback still images and video footage

Did you take the card and insert into computer/device to view photos?

Viewing photos can alter the format of the photos thereby preventing your camera from reading them.

I viewed some photos and rotated a few photos and my camera no longer recognizes the format.

good luck

I don't know how to view photos on camera

Since camera model number is not mentioned in question, there are 2 ways to view pictures in Sony camera.
Either you will find Play Back symbol in mode dial on camera, rotate mode dial until playback is selected or camera has Play Back button near LCD which need to be pressed so camera will shift to playback and you can view pictures in memory.

No sound

You will get sound when you transfer recorded movie clips in your computer and playback in computer.
DSC-S500 Sony Cybershot has built-in mic to record sound but doesn't have speaker to give sound during playback in camera. You need to import movie files in your PC and playback in PC to hear sound.
