Background noise problem with motorola radius cp200 and also crackling status during transmissions

If the crackling and static are coming from the radio, it could mean 1) Something in your environment is putting out RF (radio frequency waves). 2) You have an old battery. 3) You are at the edge of the radio's range. 4) You have a bad speaker in the radio.

Possible solutions for you could be:
1) Have the radios reprogrammed to have Private Line (PL). This would block out RF noise on your frequency. Also, within the factory if there are devices putting out RF noise, there may be some solutions for them.
2) Replace old batteries. (Try a known good battery and see if it helps.)
3) Check to see if you have the same problem when radios are within a closer range. If it is a range problem, education yourself and other users to hold the radio upright (perpendicular) to the ground. You will get the best range. Tilting the radio can reduce range as much as 2/3s. Even the bodyfluid of a person wearing the radio can absorb range.
4) See if you have the same problem with another radio, or if the crackling static is just with the one radio. It may need repaired.

Another solution for you might be a noise canceling remote speaker mic. This would put the speaker of the radio up on your lapel. And these mics also have some noise/wind canceling ability.

There are a few programming things you could have your local dealer try. They may be able to tighten up the squelch and knock out some of the noise.

Best regards.

User hears faint static while on a call. It's not load enough to make it hard to hear the caller, but a noticable crackling/static noise can be heard in the background. happens on every call.

Cell phones transmit the sound as digital data. The data when converted back to analog to listen too CAN have "digitizing noise" which will sound like static.

WORSENING the problem is if there is noise in the background of the person sending the voice and the worst possiblle is to have MUSIC in the background. These both drive the CODEC (the analog conversion system) crazy and will create what you describe. The CODEC is designed to transmit ONLY voice.

Static from SoundStation Premier

Check the phone cable you are using for your POTS line. Attach a phone directly to the phone jack and see if it is clear or static without the device.

Background static

1. How old are you phone lines in the house?  Check the "main" terminal connections.  Clean and reconnect.  (Make note how the wires are connected).

2. The power transformers for the phones maybe you trouble also. Unplug all except the main unit.   Check each transfer one at a time. Do you have static?  One or more may be your problem.  Replace the bad ones if needed.

The cordless phones have a button to change the channels that are within the radio freq. range. I would change the channels until you get a clear/static free call.
