My NEC ND-3530A DVD drive causes my Dimension 3000 to go to the dreaded blue screen and dump. I have changed discs, downloaded updates, ran check disc, did a virus scan, everything that Microsoft suggested. The drive will read discs but everytime I try to save to it--blue screen!! Help!!

- I have reinstalled the drivers, did a diagnostics which said they were fine. They will read but not write. The BSOD says BAD POOL ERROR. I have tried numerous programs to save to the discs with no luck. I was unable to download and use the cd burner program you recommended because it said the setup files were corrupted. This machine is only 3 years old.
This could be a problem with the burner, but it could also be a driver conflict of some kind, or a software issue. What OS are you using, xp?
What software are you using to burn with? (Try using this instead: http://www.cdburnerxp.se/)
Try disabling the automatic restart so you can read the blue screen stop code and report it back here. (Go to control panel>system>advanced>startup & recovery and uncheck the automatic restart. You will have to manually shut down the system after you get the stop error code.) This page will help decipher the error code you get back.
Possible MS help articles here and here. (You may need to reinstall the drivers.)
I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread. If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

0x00000019: BAD_POOL_HEADER (Click to consult the online MSDN article.) A pool header issue is a problem with Windows memory allocation. Device driver issues are probably the msot common, but this can have diverse causes including bad sectors or other disk write issues, and problems with some routers. (By theory, RAM problems would be suspect for memory pool issues, but I haven’t been able to confirm this as a cause.)
If you read the MSDN article, you can see that there's a problem with one of your drivers. Since you haven't told us what os you're running, nor reported the value of the error code, we can't do much to give more definite information. If you've recently updated drivers, roll them back. If you recently installed new hardware, disconnect it. If you haven't applied the latest service pack to your system, do so.
Did you look at the log files for the chkdsk you ran to see what kind of corruption was found on your hard disk? Have you run sfc /scannow to make sure the system files are intact? If you want to troubleshoot the blue screen, see here.
