Question about Canon PIXMA iP2000 InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Bad printing Despite trying several new ink tanks and doing cleaning/deep cleaning on numerous occasions, on printing (in black) some lines are only partly printed, some blurred, some OK. But it's not always the same that don't print properly.Any idea what the problem is?

Re: Bad printing

Just for info my printer wasn't printing much of anything black and color. If you hold down the middle button till the light on the top blinks twice it will give you a color test page. it should give you a grid to the right and to the left it should have the letter H and two blocks. If it doesn't you hit the middle button until the light blinks once and that is the cleaning. I have had to do almost 25 cleanings just today to finally get some results. Hope this helps you.

Suddenly no ink coming from five wells (BK, R, G,

I have the same problem but it's only with the black ink, I removed the print head unit and run it under the hot tap till th ewater ran clear, then i soaked it in hot water and again run fresh water through it till it ran clear then left it in a bath of alcohol, i just used whiskey, but wouldn't recommend drinking it after, or before for that matter, I felt there was nothing to lose if it was a faulty print head as they are about £95 new. I had already run several deep cleaning programs and replaced the inks, but literally no black ink at all was printing. I havn'e tried it yet as it's still soaking, but I have also stripped the cover off the priinter and am trying to clean otu the waste ink tanks and absorbant pads, it's far to expensive a printer to just chuck out so here's hoping

Red and yellow inks will not come through

Remove the print head from the cradle and examine the contacts for any wear or gunk, clean contacts if necesary and put the head in a bowl and pour boiling water in the top where the ink tanks normaly go, repeat this process until no more ink flows out (will take a while) being careful not to burn yourself, dry the head out with a soft lint free cloth and re-install and try deep cleaning again, If still not working replace the head with a new one. They retail for around $60.00, it may also at this point be worth considering another printer, they are quite cheap and consider the fact that you would be getting a warranty.

Black lines running through certain lines of printed documents

Hi, ok your ink well is clogged (the stuff the ink cartridges fit in) remove all the ink tanks, then remove the inkwell by pulling the lever to the right. In a dish pour some rubbing alcohol and tel the ink jets soak a bit. pour some alcohol over the nossles(where the ink sits to send the ink through) and let it soak a bit more. Use a straw and cover the jets then blow, this will force the bad ink out clear the jets. Blot it dry then replace. blot each inktank before replacing them to insure the ink is running out. A couple of deep ink cleanings and you will be set.

If this fails you may have to replace the ink well and the cartridges (order new ones from canon) But cleaning it should work, try at least 3 times before deciding to buy a new one.

Printer will not print black ink

Hi please try these steps:::

Right-click the printer icon, and then select 'Properties'.
2. Click the 'Maintenance' tab, and then click 'Deep Cleaning'.

3. Select 'All Colors', 'Black' or 'Color' for the print head to be cleaned.

4. Read the message displayed, and then click 'OK'. The power lamp blinks and print head deep cleaning starts. (Do not perform any other operations until print head deep cleaning is complete. Print head deep cleaning takes about 1 minute.)

Check ink tank vent hole The ink tank requires air to flow through it so ink can move from the reservoir to the print heads.

  1. Confirm there is no orange tape across the top of the ink tank

  2. If the orange tape is as shown in Figure (1), it is properly removed.

    *BCI-3's shown in this example.

  3. If the orange tape is as shown in Figure (2), remove the remaining tape to the level shown in Figure (1).

  4. Make sure each ink tank is snapped into the printer.

IF THESE STEPS DIDNOT WORK THEN YOUR PRINTER NEEDS REPAIR(You might need to change the printer head.)

Many lines on photos despite numerous cleaning, deep cleaning

it could be a faulty printer head in the printer or purged unit not work correctly to clean the heads. you need to do a deep head clean then try printer head tested again. may need to do this a couple of time. still have problems get a new printer head for the printer.

My magenta will not print well

Here's what you should do. Remove all ink cartridges. Get some rubbing alcohol, preferrably 91% proof (leaves less moisture) Get a couple normal paper towels. Check each cartridge for dried ink and remove it using an alcohol wetted paper towel. (The deep cleaning procedures aren't always effective.) The gold contacts on each cartridge should be gold when you are done. Use the same procedure on the gold contacts of the ink cartridge housing inside the printer. Take your time, do it well. If that does not fix the problem, then do the following. Switch the black and magenta cartridge. Some printers won't print when you do this, other printers don't know the difference. If your printer is the later, then attempt a print job using a page that has a line of both black and magenta text. If you see a black print, then the problem is your magenta cartridge (despite having installed a new one) If the magenta prints, then you know the magenta cartridge is good. If the magenta prints but the black doesn't, then you have a printer failure. Let me know your results. ZT3000 Beta tester of "0"s and "1's"
