You will have to acquire a new front panel as that part is an assembly....accordianman

My sansui dvd doesn't switch on at once it needs to be switched on and off several times for it to be on

Fault to the main power supply regulator section. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.
It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market

Hi, one of my room lights will not switch off - it has been working without problem for at least 3 years. I have replaced the switch with one that has been tested in another room without success. Is there...

If the switch is good, then it has to be the way the switch was wired up. (Assuming that this is just a single basic light switch and not a 2 way switch, or a 2 or 3 way circuit.)If the switch is good, then it has to be the way the switch was wired up. Philips record player

If use box trips out when you switch ON thie DVD player, the power supply regulator board inside the DVD player has some kind of Diret Short circuit with it. The set needs through checkup, sometimes the power regulator boad may need replacement. The components of philips power supply systems are ver difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. OK.

You are having a loading tray sensor problem. It is a small leaf switch on the under side of the loading tray. It must be having a contact problem. How it works is when you close the tray at the end of the tray's travel this switch closes and shorts sending a signal to the microprocessor to shut down the loading motor, same happens when you press eject. Sounds simple but is little difficult to access for a first timer. One you get to it all you need is some switch cleaning spray ( even WD40 will work wonders ).
Take professional help it will just take 10 minutes and will cost you only labor charges. You can mess up the timing if you get it wrong and the loading tray may not work properly.

Panasonic DMR-es40V F03 error code - VHS not working

Mechanical fault, usually caused by oxidisation of the mode switch - creating increased resistance between its wiper and its internal contacts. Try cleaning the mode switch (under the VCR mechanism on the main board) using a commercially available electronic cleaner (after first unplugging unit from power point, and carefully removing top and front covers), rotating the switch wiper gently in each direction, let it sit for a few minutes, refit the mechanism, ensuring all is reconnected to the board, plug unit into power, test.

The other option if the cleaning doesn't work, is to order and replace the mode switch with a new one - these are not expensive parts, and should be available from Panasonic directly. Make sure you quote the model number of your unit to the spares supplier before obtaining any replacement parts, including the mode switch as required.

BUT: try the simplest and cheapest option (cleaning the mode switch) first. See how you go.

I have an DR275 LG DVD recorder. For some reason it stopped playing DVD discs. But it will play anything else you put in it I have cleaned the heads switch it of by the power as well. What could...

The laser mechanism has a number of optical components, not just the lens. There also additional fixed lenses and mirrors inside the laser unit which are very difficult to access. If sufficient dirt builds up on these components then the dvd laser may not work properly. Unfortunately it is very difficult (or even impossible) to clean these parts.
Another possible fault is that the CD laser is usually separate to the DVD laser and the DVD laser is no longer working properly, while the CD laser is still OK. In this case, the unit is definately not repairable without replacing the whole laser unit (not a readily available item and not likely to be cheap).
If the unit is out of warranty, your cheapest option is to buy a new DVD recorder.

Phillips PET 706 portable DVD player. Won't play DVD's.

1. The pin, right side in the back of the dvd-tray-lid, which triggers the switch on the motherboard of the dvd player is broken.

2. Not impossible, but unlikely: the proper switch on the motherboard is broken, corroded or just full of dust and does not close the circuit.

Solution to 1.: you need a new lid with intact pin, or glue an improvised pin on place of the broken one.

Solution to 2.: take the whole player apart (not difficult at all), while not disconnecting any cables, so you can now test the trigger switch (momentary switch) manually and see if something happens (on screen appears loading)
ATTENTION: BEFORE pressing the SWITCH: cover the laser lens with a piece of paper - do not look into it - it can damage your eyes!!!
If nothing happens by manually triggering, try to spray some electronic cleaner (fat and oil free) into that switch, while pressing it continously. If still nothing happens, disconnect battery, DC, de-solder that switch and look at or any other electronic parts dealer to get a MOMENTARY switch with exact identical dimensions, etc.
Solder it in, everything should be perfect now.
Good Luck

No power on when connected

Switch mode power supply is very difficult to troubleshoot even for an expert technician. All SMPS operate at high frequency. If you have a miltimeter that can detect frequency, You can set it to that, then get the red prob close to the switching transformer, you don't even have to touch it with the probe, and you will get a reading in thousands of hertz. If its working. A guide to fixing it is way too complicated.
