Re: printer not responding

Check the ink in the printer, clean its nozzles and then try for the test page.

Unable to connect Dell 3000cn to wireless network (cable from printer to Linksys router). Printer shows ICP address, laptops set to share files, but computers do not "see" printer at all. Ideas?

The printer driver needs to be installed and the printer port changed from LPT1 or USB to a TCP/IP port.
Please refer to my tip on Setting up HP network printer. the principles are the same for setting up network printers with a print server.

I have an Epson Stylus Photo R220 Printer connected to a linksys print server, but

Well, The first thing you should do is to try to test of the print server is properly connecting to the printer. Check the linksys printserver manual and look for how to print a status sheel from the print server. Once done, get the IP address of the print server. Go to your laptop and navigate to control panel/printer. See if you have the driver installed or download the Vista Drivers from During the installation, it will ask you what connection type your computer uses. cancel out of the installation or choose LPT1 as the port. Once done, go back to control panel/printers.Right click the R220 icon and navigate to properties. Select ports after that and add a new port. Select Standard TCP IP port after that. Once done, the wizard will appear. Input the IP address of the printer and finish the wizard. you should be good to go after this.

Zebra printers & MS Word

HI Les1810,

You should be printing faster with Zebra fonts.
Which driver are you using? Version?
I strongly recommend the Zebra Designer V1.3.08, available at

To isolate the problem, capture the output to a file.
Define a local port as C:\output.txt and set that as the port in driver properties.
Now print your document. The printer commands will be in C:\output.txt.

Send c:\output.txt directly to your printer.
For LPT1, use the DOS copy command to send the file. (Copy C:\output.txt LPT1)
For serial connections, use Hyperterm to send the file.
For network connections, use ftp.
No easy USB method is readily available.

Does this print faster than printing the original document from Word through the driver?
If yes, then update your driver.
If no, debug your communication to the printer (LPT1, serial, network, etc.)

HP Laser Jet 1320 Printer installation

Just downloading the PCL5 driver was not enough for my computer. Maybe it is enough for other users' computers. But in addition to downloading the drivers, i had to also download and install the "HP Laserjet 1320 plug and play print driver solution" at the bottom of the driver list. Save the file to your desktop, double-click it and follow instructions to install, then reboot. Then when I checked my printer list, the HP Laserjet 1320 was there. I printed a test page, and now i am good to go. Hope this helps.

Table Mismatch Download Again

This is the only Solution to "Table Mismatch"...

If a “Table Mismatch” is displayed, recycle power and reflash the printer. Can get “Table Mismatch” after replacing CMX Board.
“Table Mismatch”
Flash Upgrade Instructions Using the printer’s Parallel Port: You have ethernet, you can FTP download.
1. Print a configuration on the printer prior to the download. After the flash is upgraded, the printer will be at Factory settings and you will need this printout to restore any non- default settings.
2. The PTX flash code is on a CD you should have received with printer. Don’t have? I can email you the Flash program.
3. Turn the printer's power off.
4. If there is a cable connected to the printer’s serial port, disconnect it.
5. Connect a cable from the LPT1 port on a PC that has a DOS prompt mode to the printer’s parallel port.
6. While holding down the Online & FF(Paper Advance) keys, power up the printer. The printer will display "Waiting for Program Download".
7. At the PC’s DOS prompt, go to the directory where the file is located C:\Temp and
type "filename.exe -pb<ENTER>" where filename is the name of the file that you downloaded in step 2.
NOTE: there is a space before the -pb
8. The printer's display will keep you informed of the status of the download. When the download is complete, cycle the printer’s power.
