I have an Epson powerlite s4 and a yellowish patch appears on the screen as I turn on the projector

The likely cause is either dirty optics inside the projector or some of the special mirrors inside the optics are burned. If the projector was used a lot then the special mirrors are probably burned. If it's just dust on the optics the unit could be opened and cleaned but you might have to take it in to a repair place to have that done.
