How to sende information from a sheet to another?

You can link to the original sheet or copy and paste - Linking might be easier as you only have 10. - Can you not use worksheets rather than excel. If you want to make it more autonomous you can index or look up the first sheet so any changes you make will be reflected back in your employee sheets.

I want to make an excel record a data in a different sheet when i feed the name of a student in a sheet in the same cell

Without more specifics as to what you want to do here is how to link a cell on sheet 2 to sheet 1.

If you want to sheet2 cell A2 to be the same as sheet1 cell C4 you would simply input "=sheet1.C4" into sheet2 cell A2 (without quotes). You can reference any cell on any sheet to another.

Hope this helps!

Hou to unprotect in excel sheet

We first need to know which version of Microsoft Office you are using, since different methods will exist for different versions. It is Office 2000, 2003, 2007 or some other version?

Microsoft Excel

Dear jois you can make a link from one sheet to other sheet by making a hyperlink. When you will click one cell in first sheet it would shift the sheet in the cell you will fix it.

You can follow this process:

  1. Select a cell that contains the external formula
  2. Highlight the File path and sheet name in the Formula bar, eg; 'L:\Daves\[Book2.xls]Sheet1'!
  3. Push Ctrl+C then push Enter.
  4. Select the range of cells you wish to change the reference in and go to Edit>Replace.
  5. Select in the Find what box and hold down the Backspace to ensure you do not have a space.
  6. Push Ctrl+V.
  7. Do the same in the Replace with box and then edit the file path to the new one needed.
  8. Click Replace All
if that has helped you please press 'fixya'

You can copy any selected cell(s), and then in the sheet you want a link in, select 'Paste Special' from the Edit menu, and then choose 'Paste Link.' I have assumed that you're working in Excel, since you mentioned sheets. The pasted link will update any time you open the second sheet with the links in it.

Excel Sort Across Sheets

Hi Raymond, I have a solution for you. Asuming your 'main' sheet is Sheet1. On Sheet2, in the same line as your data on sheet1 (i.e. A5 on sheet1 is JIM), then on A5 on sheet2, enter a link ( the = ) and enter. copy this formula down. Do the same with Sheet3 linking to Sheet1. When you sort Sheet1, Sheet 2 and 3 will follow. Hope this helps. Regards DeltaC
