Re: dvd drive does not work on 915

Intel 915 has only one ide slot. are you using Parallel ATA for your hard drive? if that so, then make sure your Hard drive is set to MASTER and your DVD drive is set to SLAVE. pls double check the pin configuration of your hard drive and your dvd drive.

I Have a PC with INTEL D 915 GLVG express chipset Board with intel 2.66 GHz processor. I wanted to add a graphic card in my PC. Please suggest me which latest graphic card is compatible for my Board.

The best card you is going to be the PCI card. You have 2 ea. PCI slots and 1ea. PCI x 1 slot. Dedpending on what you want to do with the card, there are quite a few to choose from. You will have to pay attention to the power requirements of the card. The best one I looked at, my opinion, is this one:
It does require a 400w power supply, possible upgrade for you, but, has DirectX 11. 512 MB memory, I gig would be better, HDMI and DVI outputs. I like the Radeon HD cards also because they have a sound chip in them also so, you could use ATI's DVI to HDMI adaptor as well for a second monitor. This is the adaptor:
The 6141054300G. There are others to look at but, this is a good all around card for the money and your system.
Good luck,

Iam having newly brought 1gb hynix ddr1 ram in 915 glvg , when iam formatting xp os in my system it is not able to load the os installation files while formatting ........but when i insert my old 256 ddr1...

Im guessing your new memory isn't new? Get some of the lightest sandpaper you can find and give the pins a gentle clean and make sure theres no dust left over. Most memory is guaranteed for life nowdays thats how confident these companies are at keeping up quality. ........ cheers and please vote

Motherboard specification not available.

Are you uning the recovery CD or a new OS?

A new Os (XP) will allow the second drive even if the old one will not. Of course you can always add a USB hard drive and a USB PCI card to make it all work. What are you using this pc for seems a little old for todays applications. Suggestion If your going to use this that you Replace the main hard drive with a 120GB or larger, new video card at least 256MB if not 512 and at least 1 gig of memory as I believe it will only take a max of 1 gig. you cannot use vista as it requires more resources than this Pc can give to support the OS. you may want to try XP LITE as well one you get XP installed to speed it up a bit!
