It is stuck. It should have come with an "allan wrench" which is used to free it. It fits directly in the bottom of the disposal, and you turn it clockwise and counter until it frees. If you do not have an allan wrench, a broomstick may work. Put the handle in the garbage disposal (from top - in the sink) and try to jar it loose. You have to catch one of the teeth though. After that is done, hit the reset and you should be all set. Good luck

My garbage disposal is not working' only humming sound, no action. I'm not sure if I found the reset button. A red plastic, could be a button, on the bottom of my Badger was moved around, not so much...

There is a wrench that came with your disposal. It is about 1/4" and has six sides. Be sure it is turned off. Insert it in the bottom in the middle and move back and forth a few times. Remove it turn on the water and try again. If it hums repeat. If no noise press reset, otherwise it is working.

Reset button not working

Try reset button on bottom of disposal.
Following link has full troubleshoot resources:

If reset will not restore functionality, check that unit is getting power, and then check that unit is receiving 80% rated voltage. Replace disposal.

Disposer is making a humming sound.

If your disposal is humming but not grinding then shut unit off and use a 1/4 allen wrench in the opening on the bottom of disposal in the center and turn it back and forth with the wrench till you get it freed up. There should be a offset wrench that came with the disposal for this purpose but if you don't have it a regular allen wrench will work. Try running hot water thru disposal while you are turning with allen wrench to help loosen up grease. After you get it turning freely remove allen wrench and turn disposal on . Hopefully this will take care of it but if not repeat until it frees up.
If your unit stops look on the bottom of the disposal for a small red button. This is a reset button. Push it and see if it will run. Hope this helps you. Thanks and have a good year.

My motor is not running is this reset button going to help and where is it/

red little button is (hard to see it but it is there) on the bottom of the unit. With the power turned off, depress the red button....should feel it push in and stay. if this does not work, replace the wall switch where you turn the disposer on and off, if this does not work replace the entire unit.

My garbage disposal doesn't turn on, I checked the plug and it works. What do you think is the problem?

Every disposal I've seen or installed has had a RESET button. If there is no sound at all when you switch the unit ON, look/feel around the bottom of the unit for a small button (usually RED). Press the button in, and then try the switch again.

If the unit makes a humming sound when switched on, something is binding the mechanism and preventing the blades from spinning. If this is the case, unplug the unit and then spin it to remove blockage and free the blade mechanism. If the unit came with a large allen wrench, you can insert it in the bottom of the unit and turn it to free the blades. No wrench, no problem. Insert a small piece of pipe, a pipe wrench handle, or (my favotite) a 3/8 or 1/2 inch socket extension bar into the top of unit and turn the blade assembly until it spins freely. Once the blade assembly is freed, the unit should operate normally.

The motor on my Badger 5 disposal was humming but not rotating. I cleaned out all the debris, reset it and now there's nothing - no hum, nothing. Is my badger dead?

The badger 5 has a dislodge device on the bottom right in the very center. An allen wrench will fit if you have lost the tool that came with it.

FIrts you will need to dislodge anything preventing it from turning. (Insert the right size allen wrench and turn both directions) The remove whatever comes loose after dislodging.

Then opush the red reset button on the bottom. Check the breaker that powers up the disposal, as you may have tripped it.

If the breaker is on, the unit is turning freely, and the reset button is pushed, then the next step is to check for power using a volt meter, to make sure the disposal is indeed getting power. If all the above has been done, the unit IS getting power then yes, the disposal needs to be replaced.

Garbage disposal won't turn on

Three points to ck. !) make sure disposer is plugged in under ther the sink. 2) Make sure the circuit breaker at the breaker panel has not tripped. 3) Make sure disposal is off and make sure it is not jammed, 3) Press reset breaker located on bottom of unit (red button.) Then try wall switch again.
