Constant alarm but works fine otherwise

It probably burned up one of the capacitors on the board that signal the UPS to turn the alarm off. I've had this happen before and I unplugged everything, turned the UPS off, disconnected the batteries and then opened the UPS up to cut off the tiny, annoying, surprisingly loud speaker. I then put everything back together and that was the end of it :)

We had a power outage for about 45 minutes a few days ago. Ever since then the Powerware 3110 has been beeping. I turned it off and left it plugged in overnight and when I turned it back on the beeping...

This could be several things, fortunately the device should actually be helping you to diagnose the issue. There are different beeps for different issues. They are as follows:

1 Beep Every 5 Seconds = Power Outage\Loose Plug Connection\Tripped Circuit Breaker\Power Cord Damage or Failure

2 Beeps Every 5 Seconds = Low Battery Alarm

3 Beeps Every 5 Seconds = Battery Needs Charging\Service\Replacement

3 Beeps Every 5 Minutes = The Battery is discharged and battery power is unavailable (If this continues battery replacement may be necessary)

1 Beep Ever 1/2 Second = Power Requirements exceed the UPS Capacity (remove some equipment to lighten the load on the unit)

Continuous Beep = Short Circuit / Input Voltage out of Range / UPS Fault (Likely replacement of entire unit)

That should help diagnose the actual issue. If it turns out the battery needs to be replaced they can be found online for around $20. A simple google search for Powerware 3110 Battery should return what you're after. Good luck!

Hi! Per our UPS problem is when open 3 or 4 hours, then auto Off the UPS. please let me know what the problem. And i need to change the PCB board or just repair the PCB board? Thanks Regards

If you unplug the unit and it powers your PC for 3 or 4 hours then turns off, it is because the batteries are empty and this is normal. If it is plugged-in with power and shuts itself off after a few hours, then the battery cells may be in need of replacing. You can purcase an inexpensive replacement battery here:

Smart2200RMXL2U shows no sign of life after storage

These units, while hot swappable, will NOT start with dead batteries connected.

You will have to replace the batteries to confirm if the unit is still usable. Sealed Lead Acid Batteries do have a shelf life when a charge is not applied and will fail after several months of sitting around.

If your unit was working fine before it was put in storage, I definitely would consider just replacing the batteries. It is possible that the batteries are connected loosely, you can try opening the unit up to double check all the connections but if it has been sitting for more than a couple months, I would definitely consider the batteries dead.

You can find replacement batteries here

Safety fuse trips in my 75VA control transformer

Yes, the contactor OR the wiring to it could have a problem. The transient suppression diode that might be associated with the contactor driver could also be shorted.

An ohmmeter is your friend in troubleshooting this.

APC SMARTUPS 1500VA Battery Problem When Replaced

You are correct. The APC Smart line has a partial charge when it's new. Similar to cordless phones, the work right away, but you're still supposed to charge them before use for best results.

Just leave it plugged in with no load for a couple hours and it will be fine.

Smart pro keeps shutting down

it seems that the internal battery is bad, even if it is new but if it stays in the shopping store for long time it may become bad and not charge.

Receptacle Doesn't Work

By far the most common problem with a receptacle is that it doesn?t work. Because receptacles are very inexpensive and easy to replace, it makes sense to replace them when they cease to work properly. But before you go to the trouble of buying a new one and installing it, make sure that the old one is truly defective. For a non-working duplex receptacle, first make sure the problem isn't with the appliance or lamp. Some appliances, such as hairdryers, have overload protectors that automatically shut them off if they begin to overheat. Try a second appliance or lamp in the receptacle. If the receptacle still doesn't work, you'll usually find that the circuit breaker has tripped or the fuse has blown, the receptacle has become faulty, or there is a switch that operates that receptacle and it needs to be turned on. The problem is rarely the wiring. 1) Test the receptacle with a second lamp or appliance. 2) Be sure that one half of the duplex receptacle (or the entire receptacle) isn't controlled by a switch in the room. 3) Check the circuit breaker (or fuse) for that receptacle's circuit to be sure it has not tripped (or blown). If it has, reset the breaker or replace the fuse, and try plugging a working lamp or appliance into the receptacle again. 4) If it still doesn't work, turn off the receptacle's circuit breaker, unscrew the cover plate from the receptacle, and use a voltage tester to be sure none of the wires in the electrical box are still "hot." Then check to be sure that the wires are securely fastened to the receptacle's terminals. 5) Look for signs of charring. Replace the receptacle if it looks damaged. 6) Put the cover plate back on, turn the circuit back on, and try the receptacle again. If it still doesn't work, turn the circuit back off, remove the receptacle cover, and replace the receptacle with one that has the same amp and voltage ratings. 7) If this doesn't solve the problem, call an electrician.
