Undo the top cover you will see a black cover with clips and at the back or side there are two small screws which hold the rear concave mirror in place undo the screws bend the clip back gently and remove ....pop out old bulb and put in new bulb with a piece of tissue dont touch it with your fingers.... do all the rest in reverse order ...did mine tonight took 10 minutes just a bit tricky getting screws back in.....you need a long magnetic posidrive with a small head....

How do I change my projector lamp?

Instructions
  1. Front Projector
    • 1 Disconnect the power cable from your projector. Allow it to cool for 30 to 60 minutes. Lay the projector upside down on a table.
    • 2 Remove the lamp cover, typically located on one of the rear corners of the projector's underside. Depending on your projector, you will either have to loosen a few Phillips screws or press on one or two plastic release tabs to remove the lamp cover.
    • 3 Loosen the screws holding the lamp assembly in place. Grab the assembly by the handle and slide it out of the projector.
    • 4 Slide a new lamp assembly into the projector. Don't touch the glass on the bulb because it will damage the bulb. Tighten the retaining screws on the lamp assembly and replace the lamp cover.
    • 5 Turn the projector right side up and reconnect the power cable. Power on your projector.
    Rear Projector
    • 6 Unplug the TV from the outlet. Let it cool for 30 to 60 minutes.
    • 7 Remove the lamp cover. On most rear projection TVs, the lamp cover is located on the right or left side of the TV's rear panel. Remove the cover by loosening the screws and pulling the cover away from the TV. Certain manufacturers, like Mitsubishi, have the lamp cover in the front of the TV, near the left speaker. To get to the cover, you must first use your fingers to pry off the front panel below the screen, revealing the speakers and lamp cover. Loosen the screws on the cover and pull it away from the TV.
    • 8 Remove the lamp assembly. Loosen its screws, grab the handle and slide it out of the TV. If you have a newer Sony model, there are no screws. Instead, press the release tab to unlock the lamp assembly and slide it out of the TV.
    • 9 Slide a new lamp assembly into the TV. Don't touch the glass on the assembly, as the oils in your fingers will damage the bulb. Tighten the screws or pop the retaining tab into place.

Replace the lamp cover and front panel, if necessary. Plug your TV back into the electrical outlet and power it on.

Tips & Warnings
  • Touching the lamp assembly before it has cooled can cause a nasty burn.

Dull image on projector

This is an old projector which was released in May 2005. Projector image degrades over time as the lamp dims, and other internal factors affect brightness. The original rating is 1600 lumens which is not bright compared to a modern projector.

You can check to status which may give you lamp information by pressing ENTER on remote or projector and going to HELP.

You may find that replacing the lamp helps, however older lamps are expensive and could replace the whole projector with new one of higher specification, complete with 3 year warranty if you spend double as much. A new lamp will not restore a projector to its new state either. Here's a link to the lamp (for the UK), it's over £200 + VAT + delivery, and that's not even for a genuien HP lamp

http://www.every-projector-lamp.co.uk/projector-lamps.php?&brand=HEWLETT+PACKARD&model=VP6310

As I say, you can get projectors with a better spec for as little as £372 + vat + delivery. This one is similar to yours, in that it is a 4x3 business projector. It has an XGA resolution. (Yours is VGA). It is 2000 lumen brightness and it has a 3 year warranty.

Hope this helps...

I would like to know how to reset the lamp life for a Toshiba TLP670 projector. Thank you.

I checked the manual and it does not specifically state the method you should use. If you want to download a copy here is a link http://www.allprojectorlamps.com/Toshiba-Projector-Manuals_ep_64-1.html . There is no charge for the downlaod and they don' ask you for your email adress or anything. The reset instructions are on page 42.
