The Belkin USB/Serial adapter comes with a CD with drivers and instructions for installing them on the Mac, but it will not install because the "classic environment is no longer supported".
I can find no mention of Mac drivers on the Belkin web site.
So is there an answer or is the packaging for the adapter, which says it is Mac compatible, wrong?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

- I got a reply from Belkin's technical assistance. saying that the drivers for this device work with OS 8 and OS 9. So, at this point it is not OS X compatible.
According to a tech support person at Belkin, this device is compatible with OS8x and OS9x, so it is not going to work with OS10 unless new drivers are released.

Installed Belkin drivers in WinXP. Attached the Belkin usb to serial adaptor and system recognizes the devise. Checked properties of devise and it is com4. Open program and only com 1 and 2 are available. Tried disabling either com 1 or 2 in WinXP properties and assigning the Belkin to com 1 or 2. When the program is opened which ever com I've assigned the belkin is not available. What is Belkin doing that would cause this? I've borrowed a friends generic devise w/prolific chip set and it works. He wants it back. Have I wasted $40 on a Belkin POC or can it be fixed?
