Question about HP LaserJet 2100 Printer

1 Answer

Shadows on prints

The printer leaves a shadow from text/graphics repeatedly down each page. Each page has a faded "copy" of the above text repeated down the page. I have tried to use the utility cleaner many times but it does not help. The problems occurs less, the more the printer is used throughout the day. Replacing the toner does not solve the problem either. How can I stop this?

I have a HP Laserjet 2100. It has the exact same problem. It repeats "ghost' images of the text above, down the page. I am VERY mechanical and do not know where to purchase a fuser for this model or how to install one. Can you walk me through the process on a 2100?

Another person offered this solution and thought I would add it here. Determine where the ghosting is coming from. Put a piece of paper in the outside manual feed. Let it suck almost the entire paper in, then quickly lift the toner cartridge door to stop it from pulling more of it in. Lift out the toner cartridge. If the ghosting IS THERE, then the problem is the toner catridge. If the defect is NOT there it is the fuser. Rebuilt or low quality toner cartridges can cause this problem.

The comment from Kasmodan2 is true it can the toner cartridge, but is most cases it is the fuser. I repair HP laserjet machines day in and day out to replace the fuser is easy.

  1. Turn power off
  2. Open cover at right hand side rear
  3. Remove data cable
  4. Open top cover remove toner cartridge and press button on right hand side and slide the right hand cover off
  5. Open the back cover and lower the door all the way down
  6. Remove the two silver screws
  7. Take out the paper tray as this will be easier to remove the back cover
  8. Pull the back cover from the bottom and should unclip be careful not to break this cover.
  9. Once open then you will see the fuser unit unplug the connections and remove the screws then slide out the fuser unit
  10. Refit the new fuser unit plug in all the connections and reverse the above process
  11. Turn machine on and test if all good the machine will work fantastic if there is a constant red light repeat above and check connections if still red light then the new fuser faulty and not heating up.
Hope this helps all of you
Thanks J

I have a Canon printer. Whenever pictures or text gets a double or blurry image I open the printer solutions menu. It sounds as though there is a problem with inkjet alignment. By clicking the realignment button the printer will automatically realign the jets. I usually test the alignment by printing a page from that program. All the line segments should line up.

Printer output has shadows, blurring, streaks, lines, poor color

Seem like blocked hole(s) on the color print head...
Most likely if there is a deep clean option then do it (may need a few times to unblock a hole or never).
Also get the printer physically cleaned up if you can see dusts inside (vrtical lines on color bars).
