I need the control remote code

irect Code Entry for GE remotes with 4 digit codes

The following is a short tutorial on entering the codes on GE 4 digit code universal remotes. See also this page for general GE remote code entering instructions!
Step 1: Press and hold the "SETUP" button until the red indicator stays on, then release.
Step 2: Press and release the desired Mode button (VCR, TV etc.). The red indicator will blink, then stays lit.
Step 3: Enter the 4 digit code for your device. After a valid code entry, the red indicator turns off. For an invalid code, the red indicator flashes!
Step 4: With your device on, press "CHANNEL UP" or "CHANNEL DOWN." If the device responds, no further programming is required. If some buttons do not operate your device, try one of the other codes for your brand. Note, when all codes have been searched the red indicator flashes rapidly for 3 seconds.

Code Search instructions

If your device does not respond to any of the codes listed with your equipment, or your brand is not listed, try the following steps:
Step 1: Manually turn on the device to be controlled.
Step 2: Press and hold the "SETUP" button until the red indicator stays on, then release.
Step 3: Press and release the desired Mode button (VCR, TV etc.). The red indicator will blink once, then stays on.
Step 4: Press the "CHANNEL UP" button repeatedly until the device to be controlled changes channel. The red indicator will blink, then stays lit.
Step 5: Press and release "MUTE" button to install the code. The indicator light goes off.
Generally it's best to store VCR codes under the VCR button, cable codes under CBL, and so on. If you want to store a VCR code under CBL, etc., first follow the procedure for Direct Code Entry and press CBL in step 2 of Direct Code Entry, then enter any VCR code in step 3 of Direct Code Entry. Then follow the steps above for Code Search.

During a thunderstorm, the power flickered off for an instant with the GPX D1816 in standby mode (red light?), but now the standby light is blinking green and it will not work.

If the indicator light is blinking it is probably a faulty power supply. I just fixed mine today. Open the player up by removing the Phillips screws and locate the power supply board - this is the circuit board that connects directly to the incoming 120 Volt power. On this board look closely at the barrel shaped capacitors and note any bulging at the top of these capacitors. My 1000uf 16volt cap was just barely bulging so I decided to replace it with a piece salvaged from an old PC power supply. It is simply a matter of de-soldering the old piece and soldering in a new one. If you must purchase one you could probably get one from Radio Shack or Digi-Key for under a dollar. The replacement should be 1000uf and rated for at least 16volts or more.

Sylvania DV220SL8 won't play DVDs, DVD tray won't open

One simple solution is to unplug the unit for 30 seconds then plug it back in. Worked like a charm for me.

Is it normal when the chage indicator is blinking orange during charging?

It depends on the model, however blinking orange is common for charging. Normally Red is critically low battery, orange is low battery power, blinking orange is charging, and green is charged.

Green light blinks and player will not play dvd or vcr

take it to any repair shop and have them llik it over. It probaly has something stuck in the cassette area. th repair may cost $20 to $50, most of that is what the public calls a "walk in the door fee." If your comfortable doing it yourself just take the lid off and remove whatever looks like it doesn't belong there, like pet hair or something a child could have stuck there, ie a toy or a pen. Hope this helps.
