Re: Please HELP

Www dot desatech dot com is a parts distributor for reddy heat products. on their main page they have a short troubleshooting guide. the motor needs to provide 3.5 psi of air across the fuel nozzle to suck the fuel out of the reservoir. check your ignition source (spark plug, hot surface igniter) if the hot surface igniter is broken get a new one, if the spark plug don't spark, check the gap might be too big. see if the spark plug is grounded. poor grounds will cause intermittent sparking. check the high voltage wire for breaks in the insulation, might be shorting out to ground BEFORE the plug. gap should be 75 thousandths.

On a magnum 175 vt what does c9 mean

C9 changes depending on which part of the operation cycle is messing up. Does motor start? Does it ignite? Does it shut Down automatically before out of fuel?

Motor blows igniter works but will not fire

The motor you are hearing may just be the inducer motor, this is the one that creates suction in the system before the gas is released/ignighted. If the system turns on, and you can see a flame, and the gas ignites, but then the system shuts off, this is your blower motor not firing up. Check the leads that go to your blower motor, the bigger one that pushes the heated air to the entire house, if they are getting power then you may need to replace the actual motor itself.

I replaced all filters and the nozzel pump presure is at 6psi i'm running desiel the ignighter glows for 5-6sec I'mgetting fual but ignighter goes out before flame

I want you to inspect the fuel tank, you are looking for water that may have entered while in storage. Condensation builds from storing them and it can duplicate what you are saying here. What I did was to empty the fuel in a clean five gallon bucket and observe, fuel is lighter than water so it floats to the top water sinks to the bottom. If water is present please try to dry out the tank the best you can by soaking it up with a rag. You can siphon off the fuel just be careful not to get the water. If no water is present check to see how the igniter is positioned in conjunction to the angled spray of atomized fuel. You may have to bend it in a little closer to the fuel.

Will the fan on the reddy heater not run if the ignighter is bad? When i plug it in the fan doesn't run.Do i need to replace the motor?

The fan motor runs regardless of the igniter as it is also the fuel pump. Possibly you may need to replace the motor but try this first. Remove the top section of the heater this exposes the fan motor, try spinning the motor by hand,it should spin freely if it does not try some light oil in the front and rear bearings of the motor and turn it by hand until it frees up. You may need to do this several times!! Now that it is spinning free put the heater back together and try it out. If it does not work a new motor is in your future. Hope this works out for you.

R55B Reddy Heater won't stay running. (PMS? menopause?)

Wow! Yours is the best description of a problem I have ever seen!!! Before I read the whole thing I figured you missed the pressure check as most people do but you nailed it. This is what I would try, Replace the air filter, the fuel filter, and the fuel (to make absolutely sure there is no water in the fuel) and readjust the fuel/air mixture. If that does not do it replace the cadmium cell they only cost pennies. Let me know how you make out and good luck.

PS, I have one of these so I am pretty familiar with the problems.
