Question about Fisher SLIM-1500 CD Shelf System

2 Answers

Volume Adjusts I won this system at a holiday gathering 5 years ago, about 6 months use I noticed that everytime I turned it on in about 5-10 sec. passes I would notice it was louder, and would turn it down and walk away. Same thing, 5-10sec and seemed louder. Well was not my hearing, everytime I power it up I have to stand near it to wait for the 3 auto volume adustments to end before I can set my desire level. What would be causing this type of problem? I could not stand it anymore so I stopped using it and just now brought it into work to use in my shop, never really stuts off anymore, when It is does same thing and co-workers have asked about that problem. Thanks.

Re: Volume Adjusts

The SureWake button is depressed. Turn it off by repressing the button. This is the "SureWake" feature that gets louder for the alarm. Once turned off, it will be back to normal! Press it back on to turn SureWake feature back on

Re: Volume Adjusts

Hi There Briank36,
Most electronic devices now days rely on a small "battery" device inside to retain the memory settings that you set the system to.
This memory device can be a small battery or a capacitor, which is kept charged by the power supply during its on time.
When you turn the System off the memory device keeps the settings you like for the next time you turn the system on.
During this Off time the memory device is slowly discharged.
So as you say the system is now 5-6 years old so I suggest that the memory device needs to be replaced for a new one...
as it now cant kep the memory settings for as long as it used to...
I dont know the actual electronic configuration of your particular system but this would be the first item to replace..

Its only a few dollars in cost to have done.

cheers from YUBEUT.

Volume nob wont work

The contacts on the volume encoder are dirty. The only fix for it is to take it off of the board, open it up and clean the contacts. You need to be pretty handy with electronics in order to pull this off. I don't think you can find a replacement encoder any more. Sony bought Aiwa years ago, but doesn't really support the product with parts anymore.

The fan only kicks in when a threshold current is drawn by the system. under normal operation it is not turning. Crank up the volume and you'll notice the fan fires. You wouldn't notice this since the system is so friggin loud!!

I've had my LG Mini HI-FI FB163 for about 2 years, and just recently it locked itself with one of my CD's inside. Everytime I press eject to get the CD out, "LOCKED" appears in the display window...

Happened to me when we moved it just recently.

Turn it off
Press Stop on the system itself (not remote) for 10 secs
'Unlocked' will read on the screen.
Turn back on... let it finish reading the cd, then eject should work!

I own a sony MHC-GX45. A while ago the left speaker started fading off after 10 or 15 minutes of playing. If the volume is at 5 or below, it will completely go off, if I raise the volume up above 6 and...

Sorry, I have a similar problem and came here looking for a solution. I believe the problem is with the speaker or the speaker wire. When I move the "good" speaker to the other set of lugs, it continues to function OK. I wish I could get the speaker box open without major surgery, but, alas, they are not made for repair. Don't know if I will cut into the box. My temp solution is to turn the unit off/on. This gets both speakers working. Bit of a drag, but I am finding it real difficult to find a new system w a tape player.

SA-AK95 volume control problem

This volume controls is actually what is called an encoder. The control itself needs to be replaced. Figure on $5-$10 for the part plus the local labor rate for the total repair cost.
