1 Answer

Sensor I get a message that there is no paper in the printer. tried faking it out, but nothing. DELL says.."The paper sensor no longer works. Have it checked out, & then buy a new printer" From them obviously!!! could it be paper dust or something. It is only a little over 1 yr old, & rarely used. HELP!?!

Re: sensor

Hi, More than likely it could be the paper sensor !!! It recognizes the tray has paper and when the tray is loaded with paper. My suggestion for any dell printers are to take them to your local dump and get rid of it. The only reason I say this is because dell makes these printers where the parts are impossible to get and when you can find them your better off buying a new one!! I know it's frustrating but my suggestion is to try Hp or a diffrent MFG!! Good Luck! Thanks

How do I get the paper jam error message to turn off after fixing jam on Dell C2660 printer

Turn the power off and let it sit for a few minutes. While it is off, open all the paper path access areas and check for any pieces of paper or buildups which may affect a sensor.

Close it back up and turn it on.

Here is a link to the manual, which has two good areas covering paper jam troubleshooting and resolution (around pg 300).

Dell 1815 All in One Printer Says No Paper When Paper is Full

Most likely the printer is asking for paper in the Manual Printer Feeder (not the tray). Try put paper in the MPF.

Printer complains: Insert Paper fully into MPF

Pull the paper tray out and look for any obstructions in there.  Check for broken parts as well such a sensor.  Sometimes they get out of position as well.

there is a flag in the output bin that lets the printer know when there is too much paper on top of the printer and it stops so that the papers do not continue to feed out and overflow.

Either the flag is stuck in the up position, in which case you can just gently move it so it is hanging straight down, or the flag has been broken off and no longer functional ( in which case the flag and/or sensor would need to be replaced).

1.Try downloading firmware
2.Check for driver
3.Check for LED indications on printer front panel.
4. Try removing dust between fork sensors situated below card feeder.
5. Try removing dust below ribbon sensor plate (blue led ) .
6.Do self adjustment

Hope this helps

Add paper message

you will be glad to know, this is not your printer's fault. We went round and round with dell support when we first got 150 dell 1600n's. We sent in copies of documents that were causing the problem. Finally, they figured it out for us. Embedded in the document was junk that was telling the printer to pull from tray2. All you have to do to fix the problem, is take the word document, go into file, page setup. on paper tab, select default tray for first page, default tray for all other pages, and apply to whole document. to clear the message, you will have to delete the print job from the queue, and turn off the printer, then turn back on, and you should be set. The message add paper, is really what the printer should be telling you, except that it should add to tray2, so you know it is trying to pull paper from the manual sheetfeed port on the front.(you could add paper there, till the document finishes printing, but our docs are hundreds of pages, so that is not practical. Dell 3100cn Duplex won't feed

I'd suggest it is a sensor issue. Since the error comes up, the printer stops responding - even if everything is okay.
