Question about Kenmore 91365 Compact Refrigerator
Condenser coil has been cleaned. I took the cover off the back of the freezer comparment and found it tobe solid with ice. I melted the ice with a hair dryer and cleaned it with coil cleanerand then dryed it out again. Reassybled everything and started it up. In a few hours it cooled down and started making ice. Prior to this it would cool, but would not make ice. The refrig.seemed to function properly for a few days, but it has frooze up again. I suspect the heater defrost function and I have found what I think tobe the heater which directly under the evaporator, but I don't know where the defrost control is located. I know that low refrigerant could cause this, but it works fine after I defrost It with the hair dryer. It is a GE Model #GSS201EMBWH. Cantou help?
This is most likely your defrost heater which is located in the bottom behind the access panel, under your coils. It most likely has a metal half cover over the top of it. You can replace this part yourself. Its a simple unplug the old plug in the new. Part runs around $40.

Yes ill be glad to help John. Your refrigerant level is fine. Remove the motherboard axcess panel on rear of refrig. Locate 3 wire blue plastic connector on bottom of board. Wires are labeled Comp, Line, Def. Jump Line to Def and see if heater gets hot. If nothing happens than replace the heater. Let me know what happens.
