I have the same problem....stuck showing one song stillplaying when in fact it's not. I have to wait until the battery completely dies before I can restart it. What gives? Is there a way to fix it without letting the battery die or do I have to suffer all day and wait?

My Zen V Plus suddenly froze showing "Firmware Problem". I checked on the internet and a firmware upgrade is suggested. However, my computer does not even see my Zen V Plus when I connect it. All it shows is "Firmware Problem". We reset many times but it does not go away.

    How can we fix this?

Have similar problem, had the thing a week and now its unusable. Won't turn on, won't charge, and computer won't recognize it. Solutions offered on creative's website don't work. They want $25 for shipping to repair under warranty. These things probably cost them less than $5 to manufacture.

  • scooter329 Apr 03, 2008

I have a Zen V Plus. Until this problem I would have sworn it was the best mp3 player on the market. Pressing the reset button doesn't help. When I turn it back on it rebuilds the library and goes back to exactly the same place it was and sticks again. I can't install the latest firmware because once it gets stuck Windows won't recognize it.

Arrrghhh! I think I here Apple calling, and I don't want to answer, but I may not have a choice.

  • lilkid May 01, 2008

  • justjuls1 May 13, 2008

I have the same problem with my Creative Labs Zen player. It is frozen. I can't turn it off until the battery is completely dead. I then recharge it, it rebuilds the playlist and it is still stuck on the same song sane spot it is frozen. Does this mean it needs a new battery????

  • Midnytmyst Mar 11, 2009

My Zen V Plus is stuck on a song, no sound, no progress, just the song. When I hook it up to the USB my computer doesn't recognize it. When I reset it with the pin in the hole, it rebuilds the library and then goes back to the same song it was stuck on. Neither of my computers will recognize the player but both have the software loaded. I can't even get to a playlist to delete the song its stuck on. Help me, I don't want to kick it to the curb until I have tried everything and so far, nothing has worked.

I Recently bought a Zen, and it works great. The only problem I found was that it freezes itself from time to time, and the best solution to this problem is on the bottom of your Zen, there is a very small Reset hole. With a needle or a toothpick, gently stick it in, and push lightly. This will allow the Zen to unfreeze, and return back into it's regular mode. All your files will be saved, and kept on to the Zen, so you don't need to worry about losing any of your files.

Any additional help, I'll be glad to answer!

I received one for Christmas and it froze, if i tried to rewind it a bit without pausing it first. I exchanged it and the new one does exactly the same thing. You can reset the unit by putting a pin or a small paper clip into the reset hole on the bottom edge and pressing gently. It turns the unit off and you can turn it on will then do a rebuild, but you do not lose any data.

Do a disk clean up if that doesn't work, load the current firmware and if that doesn't fix it you have a bad hard drive.

If a reset does not work using the reset hole, then try this: First, back up all of your music and do this: Turn off the player and disconnect it from the computer. Then press and hold the play/puse button and turn it on simultaneously. The player should be in recovery mode. Scroll down and select format (all) and let it format. Then reload all of music back onto your player and it should work like new. Hope this helps!

If you already try both reset, then try doing a firmware update.

On computer try unplugging computer power cable, and if it is a laptop also remove battery, this sort out problems related with electrostatic charges on computer USB ports.

Zen V Plus not charging and not recognized by windows

Turn off CPU, Unplug Power cable, And all usb devices, let it sit for about 20mins. Plug it all back in. Turn on the CPU! Also make sure if your device requires "DRIVERS" or if you have a CD download and install that before anything.
