Re: nothing happens once connected...

Did you change or verify the hard drive jumper settings? (it's a small device on the back of the hard drive.. see the manual for settings)

Well, according to Maxtor, there's nothing you can do to recover the password. I suppose that's the point of having a secure drive like that. Here is an excerpt from their FAQ:

"What do I do if I lose or forget my BlackArmor drive's Password?
There is no way to recover a lost/forgotten password. In the event that this happens, you must perform a KeyEraseTM using the Maxtor Manager software. Once erased, you will have to reconfigure, repartition and reformat before redeployment/use."

A whirring sound , then it went dead as if nothing is happening inside there, the PC do not recognige the HDD.

maxtor hard drives are really really unreliable one way to get it going is to hit it on a hard surface, the disc inside sticks and hitting it gets it going again.
this is only a quick fix i would suggest that you transfer the data on maxtor hard drive onto another drive

If it still has a valid warranty, exercise the warranty to get a free replacement.

Otherwise, open the enclosure, and separate the disk-drive from the USB-to-disk-drive adapter, and connect the disk-drive as a 'slave' disk-drive in a desktop computer, to see if the adapter was the problem.

Maxtor One Touch 4 is beeping when I connect it by usb

Is this a new drive or have you been using it for some time and it just started doing this? What make/model computer do you have?

Usually when they start beeping like that, it's an indication that the drive is not getting enough power. It's possible that you are plugging into unpowered USB ports. Try using the USB ports that are directly connected to the motherboard (the ones in the back.)
Use USB 2.x ports if they are available. Try connecting the drive to another computer.
