I've got the same problem... none of the codes with the universal remote I purchased seem to work for this old set. Ours was built in Canada back in 1985 I guess they must have changed the code at RCA somewhere along the way.

PROGRAMMING DEVICE CONTROL
The One For All 3 Device Universal Remote Control is preprogrammed at
the factory to operate an RCA TV, a Toshiba DVD player, and a Motorola
cable box.To control devices other than the default brands, perform the following
steps; otherwise skip this section:
1. Turn on a desired device (e.g.,VCR or DVD player) and, if
applicable, insert media (e.g., cassette or disc).
NOTE: Please read steps 2 through 4 completely before proceeding.
Highlight or write down the codes and device you wish to program
before starting step 2.
2. On the remote control,press a device key once (i.e., DVD/VCR,
CBL/SAT,or TV).
NOTE: To program control of a VCR, PVR (or DVR),TV/VCR Combo,
or TV/VCR/DVD Player Combo press DVD/VCR once. After programming
a VCR Combo device, you will be able to control channel selection,
volume, and VCR functions.
NOTE: To program control of a DVD Player,DVD Player/VCR
Combo, or TV/DVD Player Combo, press DVD/VCR once. After programming
a DVD Combo device, you will be able to control channel
selection, volume, and DVD functions.

Combo, Satellite Receiver, or a Satellite Receiver/PVR (or DVR)

3. Press and hold SET until the LED (red light) blinks twice,
then release SET.
4. Use the Manufacturer’s Codes (starting on page 18) to
locate the type of device and brand name and then enter
the first four-digit code for your device. If performed correctly,
the LED will blink twice.
NOTE: If the LED did not blink twice, repeat steps 2 through 4 and enter
the same code again.
5. Aim the remote control at the device and press POWER
once. The device should turn off. If it does not, repeat
steps 2 through 5, trying each code for your brand until
you find one that works. If it still doesn’t work, try
Searching For Your Code on next page.
NOTE: If the device does not have a POWER key, press PLAY.
6. Repeat steps 1 through 5 for each device you want to control.
For future reference, write down each working device

Sounds like its main system control memory IC is faulty. Contact any service technician to replace it. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

I bought a rca tv from a hotel closing down it didnt have the remote to it and I cant access all my channels how can I reprogram it with a universal remote

The universal remote will have several possible codes that can be used to work your TV. If the one you have programmed in is not doing the job reprogram another code. If only one code exists then you have a remote that is not fully compatible with your set. Some of the universal have this issue. Some of the RCA set required a dedicated and locked in remote. You would have to contact RCA and tell them your model number and serial number to get another remote. Beware these can get really expensive. I have included a site that you can use to find codes just in case you have lost that little paper that has the codes. http://www.rca.com/support/remote-control-support/

RCA XL 100 Commercial Skip TV

Only thing I can think of here is to get a Universal remote, then try these pins to Sync your TV with URM:
RCA - 000,003,004,005,007,009,011,015,048,082,092,094,
096,098,101,102,103,107,113,125,129,067,179,187,188,191,194
May not work 100%, depending on remote functions.
Instead of just buying any, you could maybe borrow one from a friend first of all.

I have a rca truflat tv but lost the remote. How do I get to the input "channel"?

You can usually purchase an RCA universal remote at a discout mall. Just be sure your new RCA remote has an input button! The older models made in 1993 and 1994 would require you press 00. Not so on the newer ones. Good Luck and thanks for asking!

Newer brands of tvs are using new codes that old remotes don't have. Only older learing remotes from original remotes or USB upgradable or newer one that were made after the tv was made will work.

Trying to hook up an emerson dvd player to tv and its not working? older tv it has no cable hook up or control box for channel set up, shouldnt the dvd player still be able to work though?

IM GUESSING THIS MIGHT BE AN RCA TELEVISION? if you dont have an rca in hook up on the tv give up and buy a new tv or you can find an older item what it is is a switch that has an rca input and a coax output it was used to hook up the older video game systems it is still sold in most stores and that will work if you do have rca inputs and lost the remote you need to get a universal remote to switch the input on certain older rca tv's you could go to channel 00 and it would set it to the input with the switch you shoudl be able to use it by putting the tv on channel 3

Code set problem

make sure your tv is and Infrared tv.. if it is there is a chance that the remote just doesn't have the capability to program to it. you should first try getting your original remote control as http://www.replacementremotes.com has many older and hard to find remote controls for RCA TVs.
