Check the firing order on the intake. if you can find 1 take #1 plug out and bump the motor over till you hear the compression stroke then you can find one under the cap

then going clock wise here are the firing orders depending on which engine you have...
4 cylinder 1-3-4-2/ 6 cylinder 1-6-5-4-3-2/
8 cylinder 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2

97 gmc pu 2500 cranks will not start. IK put in a new crankshaft and cam (sensor?) new Cab (CAP)new rotor, new coil new ICM still will not start.

ever see the truck run perfect before, or not in 10 years?
C2500 right not k2500 ,pickup.
NO ENGINE told ,4 engines 3 gas 1diesel.
but is gas so 4 engine not told (no fun there, blind)
4.7 to 5.7L and 5.4L gas.
crankshaft and cam forgot to say sensor?
CAB means distrib CAP .
rotor sure.
why not new SPARK PLUGS first and for sure those ratty old HV spark wire, useless, I run NGK mag wires.

battery good, cranks fast and engine spins fast and does not start.
and engine compression is good
and we test that spark is good on all 8 cylinders not just one,all 8 are test
and also tested for spark timing. for sure if distributor was removed, or set loose at base and timing lost.

if all that is good the engine now runs on spray test fuel in a can. for 3 seconds, even with fuel pump fuse pulled.
if you get this far,
we check fuel pressure next and even for bad fuel.
no history of car told
bad fuel ,old rusty tanks wreck injectors.
26 year old truck,.

things bad that old are, all fluids and belts
fuel filter packed in gunk and rust.
thermostat bad.
spark parts bad, cap/rotor wire sets x8 and spark plugs. (or timed wrong or put back wrong firing order)
injectors clogged, bad fuel or rust in the tank
bad FPR, bad map sensor.(or only clogged)

or bad fuel pump if pressure is low and FPR not bad.

most of my tests all take tools and meters
a tech can not fix cars lacking his tools.
and skills to use them./
even a timing light is needed on all distrb cars
and all EFI cars a fuel pressure gauge.
and compression gauge
and vacuum gauge.

I have a 1962 Pontiac Tempest with the trophy for motor I need to know spark plug wiring diagram distributor cap to what cylinder I just need to know how to time spark but worst to a cab

Cannot find a diagram, but the firing order is 1 - 3 - 4 - 2. Looking at a picture, the #1 wire goes to the back of the distributor, just above the vacuum advance unit. With the distributor cap off, see which way the rotor turns, clockwise or counter clockwise, then follow the other plug wires based on this information.

How to install distributor in 3cylinder suzuki f5b?

what year,
what country.
engines and spark systems very by all those factors.
generic answer to follow:
1: put crank at TDC mark (0degr) #1 chylinder firing.
2: install distrib. , so that rotor tip points to #1
3: set clamps on distrib.
if the wires were removed, from cap and plugs, sorry gets longer
firing order, and rotor direction are next,
we dont have this car in USA, on this USA forum.

Distributor drive

very old post,
you mean pull and put back distrib
or remove its bottom gear,?????????

click 8v or 16valve engine, not stated
http://www.fixkick.com/IGN_timing/index.html

covers all ways to do it right,
and how to un-do the wrong ways..... not fun....

short class
match mark distrib, to housing.
cap off
crank at TDc MARK 0 DEGREES
Rotor in distrib. points to #1 spark wire
if not turn crank CW, 1 full turn back to same spot
rotor is on #1 now ,not #4
remove distrib.
put back ,with rotor, to #1 and match marks aligned
end.
if frisky set timing, now
per above. link, with the timing freeze jumper planted in the DLC connector. to hood sticker spec....!!!!

My distributor on 94 gmc 1500 5.7 I replace but didn't mark rotor the distributor falls in n the teeth line up together rotor points between 6 n 8 o clock what will happen if its not the rite way

if its off when you go to start will backfire.if your not sure pull number 1 spark plug and then turn engine with bolt on crankshaft put finger over #1 spark plug hole when you feel air slow down and use flash light to see piston coming up when its all the way up stop then put cap on distributor and see where number one wire is mark distributor and then with rotor on stab distrib with rotor pointing at number one your mark you put on distrib housing then put cap back on and should fire right up if it still back fires your 180 drees off meaning when #1 piston was coming up it was on exhuast instead of compression so take cap off see where your pointing good luck its really not that bad

Where is distributor located1995 960 6cyl

hi, if you follow the leads that come from the top of the spark plugs where all these leads plug into is the distributer their will be four leads running along the outside going to each spark plug then the lead that goes into the center of the distributer goes to the coil.

So if you follow the four ht leads from the spark plugs what these all plug into is the distributer, if you are removing the distributer then make sure you mark where each lead goes as you need to put them all back in the right place.
Its best if you mark say the first lead with a 1 and then write a one onto the distributer where that lead goes into use permanent marker pen to do this so it dont rub off. getting the leads the wrong way round will mean the car will either miss fire or not run at all so just keep it all marked up properly.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok
