I also need the slide guide that is on the body of the camera that the door slides back and forth on. HELP!

  • Joe Swoboda Jan 27, 2008

Already checked eBay and google search. Found one quite awhile ago (years) but bought a new camera instead of fixing. Now I'd like to fix to give to one of my kids going to college. If anyone knows of a good resource for spare parts for cameras and electronics (yes eBay is usually the best resource) please share it here. If I find one I'll share it as well.

Same problem with broken slide track. i guy suggested filling broken track with epoxy and sanding with emory board. I found another guy who is making and machining an new track, but his e-mail bounced back. If anyone knows of a better solution, kindly advise. craig@winnerman.us

The slide guide is part of the plastic chassis not much can be done with the slot, I solved the problem by making a new part...it a "T" shaped bar made from aluminum with two 0-80 threaded holes tapped into it the top of the T replaces the long steel spacer and the vertical part of the T rides in the slot instead of the two bullet nosed screws, it doesn't matter if the slot is broken because the T bar will bridge the broken portion...I have done three of these cameras and they all work fine. Email me jarg1@gwi.net and I will send a drawing of the part. I will be making a kit for this repair in the spring of 2008.

I am producing the new slide/nutplate that will rectify the door problem and restore the camera door and on/off switch to normal function. John Richardson email jarg1@gwi.net

I am now producing the Tbar slide fix,I have sucessfully repaired about 10 C-50 cameras with broken door tracks, I sell the machined part for 25.00...you can send your camera to me and I will install it for you for the cost of return postage or you can easily install it yourself with a small good quality jeweller's screwdriver.I have presently about six repaired C-50s for sale on ebay. This problem can be repaired ,and your C-50 put back into service. For more info. or pictures of this fix email me at jarg1@gwi.net

I also had the same problem once when it was under warranty and I got it fixed from authorized service station. However, next time when the problem reoccur, I simply kept the plate aside and used finger to switch on or off using the black switch.

I like jarg1's solution and will email him for additional information. My other thought is to measure the gap in the groove along side the channel with the screw/guide pins (using auto spark plug gapping gage). I will then find a comparable size monofilament fish line to press into the gap, pushing the channel wall back in line. Pending a response from jarg1, if it works, I'll glue the fish line in the groove, although they may prohibit me from opening the camera for other repair. Any thoughts?

The front cover track has broken, where can I get the replacement part for the camedia c50

It is a common fault as the guide track is plastic.
Mine went within a year of purchase back in 2003.
Reported it to Olympus, who informed me that a worldwide warranty wasn't valid (bought in Malaysia), however I sent the damaged one and they sent me a free replacement with UK warranty!

C-50 Olympus Zoom Digital Camera; where can I buy memory cards?

I have bought memory cards for my camera and they all read "card error." I have an olympus 5.0 digital C-50 zoom camera. I have been told that I need to get a 256MB memory card. I have found these on-line, however, I need to know what does 1GDxD or 2GDxD mean? Is there anything other than the 256 MB that I need to know in order to purchase a card? Thanks

Olympus Camedia D 510 Lens cover not tight enough to keep power on.

The solution, by jimr929, to not touch the lens cover at all, works perfectly for me too, as mine is also a 2002 model.

FL-50 Repair

Here is the part that you need.
http://www.uscamera.com/cgi-bin/cart.pl

It will take some fiddling around with very small parts to get that installed.
Or you can send it in to Olympus- I know a couple of people that have been charged ~$50 for the repair and Olympus also reconditions everything as well.
Cheers.

Broken track

I have the same problem. I contacted Olympus and it is 29.95 plus tax to repair. Right now I am getting around the problem by holding the cover and controlling it as I open or close to make sure the camera turns off and on.

I purchased a second reconditioned camera from Olympus on the auction site for $35.00 and it arrived yesterday.

It comes with everything except a remote. The battery is the newer L12B. Considering the cost of a replacement OEM battery and the camera looks new, it seemed to be the best work around to having the camera repaired.

I keep it because I have the underwater case for this model and to buy a case for another camera is big bucks..

Olympus C-50 zoom

I have designed and produce on a limited basis a new slide/nut plate for the c-50 that is easy to install using existing screw. Just slide the old nutplate outand slide the new one in and attach screws solves the problem of the sliding door and the off/on switch behind the door ,I sell it for 25.00 +3.00 shipping
