Sansa e280 Main Image Wont Load Problem, Plus firmware updater doesn't work

I have a Sansa e280, and when I start it up it says "Main Image Wont Load Switch To Recovery Mode". Now, I've searched for solutions and none of them work. I use the firmware updater, and it says "Error! Application failed to read version details"...
Plus I've tried other solutions, and nothing works.
I would greatly appreciate help.

The same thing happens, this is the only firmware that actually loads up. And there is no option to format the drive.

Please look on the back of the player and see if it is a Rhapsody model or a Standard Model. This error usually happens when you have installed the wrong firmware on the device. If you dont have a rhapsody model mp3 player please perform this steps.

Please copy and paste the following link into your web browser address bar.

http://www.sandisk.com/Assets/File/Downloads/firmware/e200fw01.00.12.exe

Once you have downloaded the file, please follow these instructions.
1) Double click on My Computer so that you can see it on your screen.
2) Turn the player off.
3) On the top of the player is a Hold switch, move it to the right (toward the headphone jack) so you see the orange portion
4) On the left hand side of the player is a Record button, press and hold WHILE connecting the player to the computer. Continue holding the Record button until you see a new icon under My Computer called 16MB FORMAT. Once you see that icon you may release the Record button.
5) Double click the file you downloaded earlier and run it. Follow all of the on-screen instructions, and when you get to the prompt where it asks you whether you would like to Format it, choose Yes. Once it is done, click Finish.
6) Disconnect the player and look at the screen. Several things will be displayed, and when you see Key Lock, System Shutdown, move the Hold switch on the top back to the left.
7) Turn the player on and watch the screen. If you see a Refresh Database Fail error, you will need to follow steps 1-7 again until you do not get the error. If it does not work the first time, it could take up to 3 times for it to work.IF the update is successfull you will be prompted to choose a language for the player.

When i start appear "load main image failed switch to recovery mode"

The error means that the program of your SanDisk is corrupted. Do you see an option to switch it to "recovery mode"? If not, the best thing that you could do is to send the device to the authorized service center for repair.

Thank you!

Sansa e280 Main Image Wont Load Problem, Plus firmware updater doesn't work

Do not worry! I had the same problem as you before and got it fixed perfectly! Go to this thread and read the instructions carefully.

http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11233

Note that doing this will delete all files in your player, so I recommend you to save your files somewhere before doing this.

Load Main Image failed

Get the Sansa recovery tool for your model:
http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/DriverDownloads.aspx

Go ahead and do this, in case the DB is corrupted:
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/DriverDownloads.aspx

My Sansa e280 forze

Try plugging the player into the computer and formatting it. This will erase the music from the player, but you have a copy of the music on your computer as well. I think this will solve your problem.

Good luck.

My sansa e280 rhapsody says switch to recovery mode

Recovery mode is used to recover from a fatal error.

Follow these steps and youll be back in business.

Run the recovery tool from the SanDisk website. Make sure you select "format" when prompted.

http://www.sandisk.com/Assets/File/Downloads/firmware/e200fw01.00.12.exe

You need to put the device into "recovery mode" before you run the tool.

- Turn the device off (hold power for 20 seconds)
- Slide the hold switch into "hold" position.
- Press and hold the "record" button while connecting it to your computer. Keep holding the "record" button until you see the "new hardware found" on your computer.

Then run the recovery tool. Select format when prompted.

Best of Luck.
