-   Same problem started this morning when I ejected a tape to make sure it was in record mode not save mode. I have used my ZR 300 perhaps 4 full tapes worth. so it can't be a wear & tear issued. If I find an answer out there, I will be back to report it a.s.a.p.-   TiiTommy

-   I am having the same problem. I have a fully charged battery. I insert a tape in the camera and try to close it. The motor begins to "whirl" and make noise, but it never loads the tape. After a few seconds, the tape ejects itself. When I remove the tape and close the door, it works. Insert the tape again and it fails. Started happening suddenly. The "solution" that was given in previous posts was not a solution. Apparently they didn't read what the real problem was that we are all having. Anyone have a solution?-   DMartindale
The solution for this required sending it to Canon factory service. I was very reluctant to do this because I've heard horror stories about Canon service, but I was actually pleasantly surprised. The total cost was only about $65 and the shipping and service turn around time was amazingly fast. I was expecting weeks to go by. If memory serves me right I shipped it and received it back in less than 2 weeks.
This is a known problem with Canon and would be covered under warranty if your time hasn't run out.
our MV800 was doing the the same so i
"accidentally" dropped it (i got a bit frustrated and it was out of
warranty) and now it works fine. please note it dropped about half a
meter on carpeted floor while it was off.
Close the empty tape drawer and allow it to fully close. If it does not close automatically with the drawer empty (no tape in it) then you have some other problem. Once its closed, open the viewing screen and turn the camera to play or camera mode. At this point it should give you an error such as "condensation has been detected" followed by beeps and lights.
The manual states that "A cassette cannot be loaded when condensation is detected". So don't try dropping your camcorder! It most likely won't fix it.
The manual says the fix is to open the drawer and let it dry out for an hour and then the error should go away. It says to wait another hour (2 hours total) before using.
If it does not go away then you'll most likely need to send it in for repair.
This just happened to us with a Sony DCR-PC100. Checked tape, tried clean A/C power, made sure record tab on tape correct. We hit the reset button and so far the issue is resolved.

Ahh I have exactly the same problem with my Canon MV730i , it started on Saturday yet used a week before and fine.I e mailed Canon they say it sounds like a hardware problem. I wonder if that will be pricey to have fixed or if I can do it myself.
My Canon ZR300 will not longer accept the the tape. The problem started suddenly. This is not an issue of the of battery not charged or door not fully open. The battery is fully charged the door is fully open. I insert the tape properly, the camera waits few seconds then beeps and instructs to remove the tape, and proceeds to pop the tape out. Note that I place the tape in the outer carraige and close it, but the carraige never retracts. Once I remove the tape, the carraige retracts and closes properly. I tried that with different tapes, still the same problem.
