    Canon zr300
I have the same issue. It just started. I put a tape in, close the door but it never pulls the tape down and starts beeping.

  • cjflix Jan 29, 2008

same thing! Put tape in, close door... and it ejects right out!!!

  • JeannetteD Jan 31, 2008

    Same here! I'm very aggravated!!

  • AmmarF Feb 11, 2008

My Canon ZR300 will not longer accept the the tape. The problem started suddenly. This is not an issue of the of battery not charged or door not fully open. The battery is fully charged the door is fully open. I insert the tape properly, the camera waits few seconds then beeps and instructs to remove the tape, and proceeds to pop the tape out. Note that I place the tape in the outer carraige and close it, but the carraige never retracts. Once I remove the tape, the carraige retracts and closes properly. I tried that with different tapes, still the same problem.

Ahh I have exactly the same problem with my Canon MV730i , it started on Saturday yet used a week before and fine.I e mailed Canon they say it sounds like a hardware problem. I wonder if that will be pricey to have fixed or if I can do it myself.

  • DMartindale Mar 25, 2008

I am having the same problem. I have a fully charged battery. I insert a tape in the camera and try to close it. The motor begins to "whirl" and make noise, but it never loads the tape. After a few seconds, the tape ejects itself. When I remove the tape and close the door, it works. Insert the tape again and it fails. Started happening suddenly. The "solution" that was given in previous posts was not a solution. Apparently they didn't read what the real problem was that we are all having. Anyone have a solution?

I have the same problem with my ZR300

  • TiiTommy May 09, 2008

Same problem started this morning when I ejected a tape to make sure it was in record mode not save mode. I have used my ZR 300 perhaps 4 full tapes worth. so it can't be a wear & tear issued. If I find an answer out there, I will be back to report it a.s.a.p.

  • Mentoro Jun 06, 2008

Canon ZR300. Have same issue. Put tape in, press push to close, the tape will not load. Take the tape out and press push to close, it closes.

  • abemoore Feb 08, 2009

Exact same problem. I may have to just buy a memory card. Frustrating.

Hi Everyone,

our MV800 was doing the the same so i "accidentally" dropped it (i got a bit frustrated and it was out of warranty) and now it works fine. please note it dropped about half a meter on carpeted floor while it was off.

Hope this helps

The solution for this required sending it to Canon factory service. I was very reluctant to do this because I've heard horror stories about Canon service, but I was actually pleasantly surprised. The total cost was only about $65 and the shipping and service turn around time was amazingly fast. I was expecting weeks to go by. If memory serves me right I shipped it and received it back in less than 2 weeks.

This is a known problem with Canon and would be covered under warranty if your time hasn't run out.

The same problem I have. The ZR300 would not load the tape. I went to Canon Service Center, they charge me PHP7,500 for replacement of recording unit. This is crazy because a brand new unit of ZR900, a new model, costs around PHP10,00.00 only. They suggested that I trade-in my old ZR300 with a new unit but the trade-in value is only PHP1,500. They people at Canon must be making money out of this trade-in procedure. They refuse the repair because they can make more money for the trade-in because they can sell our old unit for a good price. My humble opinion.

Close the empty tape drawer and allow it to fully close. If it does not close automatically with the drawer empty (no tape in it) then you have some other problem. Once its closed, open the viewing screen and turn the camera to play or camera mode. At this point it should give you an error such as "condensation has been detected" followed by beeps and lights.

The manual states that "A cassette cannot be loaded when condensation is detected". So don't try dropping your camcorder! It most likely won't fix it.

The manual says the fix is to open the drawer and let it dry out for an hour and then the error should go away. It says to wait another hour (2 hours total) before using.

If it does not go away then you'll most likely need to send it in for repair.

This just happened to us with a Sony DCR-PC100. Checked tape, tried clean A/C power, made sure record tab on tape correct. We hit the reset button and so far the issue is resolved.

If warranty has not expired take it to an authorized service shop. It needs special tools and experience to dismantle and inspect belts or gears condition by yourself.

Canon ZR300 Mini DV Digital Camcorder THE MINI DV TAPE IT DOES NOT GO INSIDE THE CAMERA, SOUND LIKE IS GOING BUT IS EJECTED WITH A AUDIO WARNING AND IN THE VIEWFINDER SAY REMOVE THE TAPE AND A X APPEARS,...

I know this is going to sound strange. I had the same issue with my ZR300. When you insert a tape and close the mechinism you hear the tape whirl then it pops open and chimes. I found a solution online and thought it was to good to be true. It said to hold the camcorder in your left hand with the right side up (the opposite side of the fold out viewer). You then hit the camcorder , not real hard like slapping something. Open the door and insert the tape and WHAM! It loaded fine. Eight people had tried it according to the review and all eight people had success. I was skeptical but it works! Don't hit it so hard you break it. I did mine twice before it worked but it works everytime now. Trust me just try it and it will work.

hmmm...the only reason that usually happens is when the tape is messed up internally, or there is something stuck in amongst the head

Every time i put a tape in to play or record, it keeps ejecting it why??

Please be more specific. When you insert tape, the tape housing extract to its body, or it just stays still and eject your tape.

Hi guys,

Thank you very much for this solution posting. Really it worked. I was about to buy another one instead of fixing the problem. Because you know how the pain is, to send it factory and getting it repaired.

Once again Thank you.

There is a fix for this which was posted for either the ZR 200 or 400. They call it the "Fonzie" fix. Just hit the camcorder with your fist on the side where the tape goes in (with the door closed). Hit it lightly once, try inserting the tape. Repeat this process with increasing force each time until this works.

Surprisingly, this worked for me. Obviously, there must be something loose for this type of solution to work. I actually had it working once, then it acted up again. I tried the same solution and it's working again. No problems for several days now.

Playback & Ejection Problem

Hi, You usually get an EJECT TAPE when the camcorder has found an internal problem and either the videocassette or the camera itself has developed a problem. In you case, it looks like you tape has a problem. Daniel

Audio drop out and/or static sound Thanks to anyone who has taken a look at my issue with audio cutting out. JVC has always been a brand I have confidence in, and I believe I picked this camera up when those recording to an internal hard drive were out of my range. Last summer, I received a fantastic deal on some JVC Evarios, so GR-D250 duo would be used only as back-up, BUT, I have a ton of old Mini DV tapes -- never recorded over anything. I would find the heads needing cleaning solution highly unlikely. The first 250 recorded the bulk of those 150 or Mini DV's and worked like a champ. Because of legal depositions for lawyers and like, who may not want for me to call time-out in a deposition to switch tapes and the fact that eventually my first was going to give out, having a back-up and eventually multiple seemed like the thing to do. Having a couple of friends film some sports events I could my mix radio play-by-play I could with dual camera angles was cool. This same-year model second buy had sat in storage; The original tape the who sold it to me with 10 minutes of footage came with it. I could tell the battery was so much stronger after a full charge than my old one, but this newer D250 has maybe had 1/10 the recording time as my original. Whether listening to the camera speakers, piping the sound from the rear A/V jack or importing via firewire, it's the same. The video may not be perfect and may "spark" or "flicker" in unison with the audio that drops out,but not always. At times, the video seems just fine but the audio drop-out is akin to a loop and I could probably time it, which was what I termed as cyclical. Could one of my friends have dropped it or tipped over a tripod and not told me? Sure, but I would think they would have told me. One night, follow some high school hoops I was importing, excited at the prospects of some two camera angles mixing. Thought I may have had a bad tape, but ruled that out right away through trying multiple tapes in bother cameras. Apologies for my loquacious follow-up; I suppose if worse comes to worse, I could check eBay for a secondhand model. I've "misplaced" my original, but it will turn up; it's simply a matter of desiring to import all that footage, since 2008, with superior editing software and skill than what I possessed when doing so initially. Thanks so much!
